2016 First Round Pick

Quote:You think he'd fit more into a weak-side LB like Telvin rather than an OTTO?  I thought he looked pretty good at shedding blocks and disrupting the backfield from what I saw.

Yeah I definitely see him more as a weak-side LB, which is why I don't think they look at him unless they think they can find a mix upfront that would allow both him and Telvin to chase-and-run.

He'd certainly help our coverage though.

Quote:Their offense is old, which is why there were so many injuries.

The only "old" piece on their offense is Romo. They can get good backs and receivers later on. Their defense has just about as many holes as ours does. With Hardy being human scum and a massive flake along with Claiborne being a huge bust, they have major needs at both DE and the secondary. Treadwell isn't worth a top-5 pick and they sure aren't drafting a RT in that range, either.

Alexander at 5th overall? I think he'll be a fine player, but 5th overall, really?

I think Jack could play the Mike just fine. We need way more speed at that position and he has speed. I'm sure he'll come in at, at least 240lbs at the combine. Which would be just fine. He played inside and outside at UCLA.

Poz will still be here and holding down the Mike for at least another season. Ease Jack into the defense with some set packages to get him a little playing time during games, but don't rush him back fully from that knee injury. He should be fully healed up and ready to take control of the Mike LB spot in the following season.

Also agreed with the above posts that Browns are most likely to take a QB at #2 now.

Titans will probably go Bosa, or Tunsil #1.

Chargers could go OT, or Ramsey to possibly replace Weddle.

Cowboys will most likely go Defense, but Treadwell wouldn't shock me. Dez, Treadwell and Terrance Williams would make a pretty nice trio at WR. Williams will also be a FA after next season I believe, for what it's worth.

Quote:I agree that a C who can really create push up front would help out a lot, both in our running game and passing game. I don't know that I'm ready to take the plunge back into Mack who will surely get a big contract. Wiz is serviceable, but upgradeable.

That said, I don't expect this team to spend the kind of money that you projected them spending. One top, maaaaybe two top Free-agents. But Mack, Vernon, Johnson or Jenkins, AND Gipson?

That's a whole lotta moolaaaa.

I think Mack is ours *if* we want him.

The others? I'm not so sure about.

Even signing those 4 guys is only roughly half of our cap space, and that doesn't include rollover cap and cuts.

Who says Myles couldn't play MLB or WLB or rush the passer? All we ever saw him do at UCLA was play all 3 linebacker positions, safety, and running back and he excelled at all of em. I think you could line him up virtually anywhere we need him and he would do just fine. If Ramsey and Bosa are gone I hope he is the pick.

Agreed, 100%. The guy is a freak of nature. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Do you want him to weigh 260, or something? 240 would work just fine in today's NFL at MLB in a 4-3. Especially in a scheme like ours where our Mike backer needs speed.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading about Poz saying he dropped down to 235 at the beginning of this season, so he could try and gain a little more speed.

Myles Jack could easily be out Bobby Wagner.

Wait I'm sorry I was wrong, I had nooo idea Jack was 6'1'' and 245. He looks so small and agile in his tape, wow makes me want him.

The guy is ultra talented and runs like a deer. We wont know the exact, official measurements until the combine, but I'd be willing to guess he comes in anywhere from 6ft - 6'1 and 235-245lbs.

This, or LT.  Wouldn't be upset with either.  Actually, excited with either.

I'd be far more worried about Jaylon Smith's knee injury, over Jack's.

I am. But I wouldn't want Smith either

I'd love to have both even knowing Jaylon might need to sit out 2016

The Jags have Telvin and an aging Poz. The linebacker position must be addressed, and I don't see anyone in FA coming to Jacksonville

Yes, the secondary must also be addressed. But I do see several guys in FA that the Jags could land

I wouldn't rule out Dallas trading down with Baltimore

Jack's knee injury is a meniscus tear, not an ACL injury from what I've read. He's also only 20 years old. There's no reason he can't come back better than ever from the injury, either way. It's not like he's 29 and trying to rehab back from a knee injury.

Him leaving college early will give him the options to rehab at some of the best medical facilities out there.

From my perspective, and I am a huge fan of Myles Jack, but he is going to force you to be creative. Not that he can't play pretty much any and all LB spots as the scheme sets up right now, but I feel like if you don't scheme him around the field a bit you really aren't getting everything out of him. I'd love for the team to align him outside of the box and let him roam around and terrorize the opposition in just trying to find the guy.

I'm not so certain that this staff would be open to that kind of thinking regarding their Defense.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
