Who won't renew tix?

Quote:Posting on this forum doesn't make you a diehard, and that much should be obvious. Sitting in that wretched stadium, paying $9 for a beer, and screaming for your team on 3rd down when you're pretty damn sure they're gonna lose, makes you a diehard. I'm a season ticket holder, but someone that sits at home and watches the Jags from their couch all season can be just as die hard as you are. I'm not sure where this mindset came from, maybe its to make yourself feel better about yourself, but I think its kind of funny. If someone is unhappy with a product, they stop paying for it. They can still support it, but until it gets better they aren't going to spend their money on it. The guy still watches the Jags on tv and comes to the Jags message board to talk Jags football...I don't know much about him, but I'm pretty sure that makes him a non bandwagoner. I attended two games in 2014 because I still lived in NYC. I moved back to Jax during the 2015 season but could still only attend two games because of my travel requirements for work. I'm hoping I'll be able to attend 3 or 4 games in 2016.
I think it's an exciting time for this team. Especially if/when we land some defensive help in FA and the draft. I'll be at the bank whenever physically possible.
The London deal isn't the fairest but I am glad that it let's me see the Jags for a few years anyway. Flying over to J-Ville next year ,would be interested to move permeantly in the future.

Quote:It will always mean that when the going got tough, you couldn't stick it out. Little dramatic, don't you think? We are talking about sports here. The best part about all this is I will get a magnet from a friend with multiple tickets so I can continue to put it on the fridge so it looks like i'm a season ticket holder still. Heck, I may even be able to snag an extra Teal Deal book too. Maybe a bumper sticker too. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I've had season tickets for the last 10 years and I'll have them again, but even I don't consider myself a diehard fan. Diehard IMO is someone who knows all the players, knows all the history and stats, season ticket holder, gets down to tailgate in their Jaguar bus or decked out van or whatever at the crack of dawn, etc... I think that term gets thrown around to much. Diehard is the elite of the elite fan who lives and breathes Jaguar football.
Quote:Little dramatic, don't you think? We are talking about sports here. This would be an example of someone who is not a diehard fan. Just sports???? Why would anyone here care what some random person they have never met think of them as a fan anyhow? Diehard fans don't sit on the couch and watch their team in comfortable conditions. The words do have some meaning. You can't just change what the word means because people get offended. I remember a while back I made some post about Superfans and forgot the term for average fan or whatever. I simply made the post just to see how riled up everyone would get at the terms. People were upset, offended, arguing and it served the point well. Don't worry about what someone else thinks about you. If you're a fan then you don't need someone else to tell you you are. And if you are defending yourself to that extreme then you are basically arguing for the person you are arguing against.

The guy was basically calling him out for giving up his season tickets and saying that because he wasn't a season ticket holder he wasn't a die hard fan (whatever your definition of that is). I used to be of that mind set, but I've come off of it recently. There are people that have families, kids, health issues, economic issues, transportation issues, or any of the other 1000 issues that can factor into going into a game on Sunday....who is anyone to judge what kind of fan they are of the Jags? There are people here on this message board that I know are more die hard Jaguar fans than many season ticket holders that don't go for whatever reason....I've sat in opposing stadiums, I've sat in stadiums when there snow flurries, I've sat when I thought everyone around me was going to pass out from heat, I sat at the Panther game when the stadium started flooding and I never once left my seat. Who cares? It's fun. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Just thought it was a little dramatic. We are here, and the going has been tough for a decade. Quote:It means nothing. It always does. If you persevere through something, and come out on top, it surely has special significance. I think that holds true with anything, whether it's a job, a relationship, or anything else. It doesn't mean it's a gold medal moment type of deal, buy it surely has significance. When the God forsaken Red Sox finally won a World Series, I bet the fans with season tickets for decades knew it was still more than nothing. Quote:That was kind of my point. I'm not calling anyone out for their choice, or choice that has been forced on them. I'm not trying to be dramatic either. I just think that it is a fact that there are people who actually did stick it out, who will know it is a thing unique to them, having seen the team through. If it comes off as calling someone out, it be what it be. I am not intending it that way, but can understand the feeling, but that's their issue. Not going to apologize for that. I see the people who are qualifying buying tics and stuff on the team having it totally together or something, under the premise it sends the organization a message.....I'm not sure what the message is, other than they are specifically intending on being a fair weather fan. That's cool. I think we're all fans of other teams in other sports and you can only provide so much dedication.
Quote:I'm not calling anyone out for their choice, or choice that has been forced on them. If the average attendance from this year is 60k and next year it drops to 50k, I think the message is clear....they wanted Bradley gone. Is that not the message you see as well? Everyone can have a different view point on how they want to define a Jaguar fan and that's fine...I've poured enough of my money, sweat, and metaphorical tears into this team to not really care about what anyone says. There isn't more diehard or less diehard. The word has been overused. Who is anyone to judge? That is the world we live in brother (As Hacker would say). More importantly why would anyone care what someone thinks of them as a fan? If you have to defend being a fan then you probably aren't as big of a fan as you claim. And that's okay. As you said at the end, who cares? And to answer your question it is YOU. And many others. That's why you posted the above. I can promise though, the fans who are truly diehard (and I'm not one of them even with 11,000+ plus posts and 10 years as a season ticket holder) never worry about defending themselves if someone questions their fandom. They don't have to. They just are. Quote:This guy is saying things like "when the going got tough, you couldn't stick it out". Just thought it was a little dramatic. We are here, and the going has been tough for a decade. That's fine. But diehards don't think like you. Why is this a bad thing? People are truly concerned about their fandom ranking. Lol, who cares?
I had season tickets for 18 years but when my seat neighbors decided to not renew, and Shad took a game of ours to London, I didn't renew. I still go to each and every game, I just sit in different sections each game.

Just out of curiosity, do you find your approach going to games these days is cheaper than season tickets? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:This is my thinking as well. I'm not going to stop going to games because I don't have season tickets. It's a lot cheaper. For one, I don't have to buy the preseason games anymore which I could never attend because of my work. Two, I buy a $70 ticket on the street for $25 or thereabout. Regards.................the Chiefjag
Tickets are for suckers, jump the fence behind the equipment storage shed in between the bleachers and the concession stand..... Duh!
Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.

Yeah, until there is a higher demand for tickets and perhaps even a wait list, I see more people taking this approach. I already know 6 or 7 people ditching their season tickets for this approach next year. |
