L.A. Rams

I wonder if Spanos is leveraging the option payment and public funds into a better deal with Kroenke, maybe even partial ownership of the stadium? It's an interesting scenario: "Let me in on my terms or I'll stay 90 miles down the coast and directly compete with you."

Partnering with the Rams would mean not going in on his own terms because each team must pay half of the stadium expense.

They could come up with a compromise at the meeting.

What if his terms aren't 50%?

I'm pretty sure he's all in on sharing stadium costs. You get more for less.

Spanos isn't leveraging. He's keeping a door open in case he backs out.

Still not on his own terms if he is a partner with Stan Kroenke.

I was thinking of the Jets and Giants, who each paid half the cost of Met Life Stadium.

Many Los Angeles Rams fans want them to go back to the uniforms that they had during the last 20 + years in their first stay in the LA area. They wore those uniforms in their first few seasons in St. Louis, including in the 1999 season Super Bowl. Because that the current Rams home jersey numbers are hard for me to read, even with a large screen HD TV, I wouldn't mind if they went back to their previous jerseys.

Another possibility might be the Rams going back to the white numbers and background on their dark jerseys from the days of the original Fearsome Foursome. Those were great uniforms!

I hope the Rams don't change back to their old uniforms. They had two shades of yellow. Navy and gold looks much better IMO.

The Rams changed their uniforms after winning Super Bowl 34.

At the very least, I hope they change their dark jersey numbers.

Would you rather have royal blue or dark blue?

I agree with you on numbers.

The Rams have a new logo with the name "Los Angeles." They will keep the navy and gold colors. I like it.

Rams in St Louis never seemed "normal" to me. Growing up, I liked the fact St Louis had both baseball and football teams named the Cardinals. Something unique in pro sports.

The football Cardinals originated in Chicago. It is actually a coincidence that St. Louis had two sports teams with the same name.

Similarly New York had the Jets, Nets, and Mets - rhyming words.

That is better than the NFL.com picture with "Los Angeles" in white.

For those curious as to what the Rams message board thought of the news I went over and found this thread:

Pretty sad. I can't imagine how I'd feel if this was happening to the Jags.

Jeff Fisher says the fans in St. Louis were great. He still sucks though, right?
Only a chump boos the home team!

LOL That is what you would expect to hear from a coach. He does not want to believe the team lost thousands of fans after Stan Kroenke announced his intentions.

Quote:Rams' plan in L.A. The Rams have been so trained on getting to Los Angeles that preliminary construction work in Inglewood actually was done even before the league approved their move on Tuesday. Still, the hard part really does begin now, with the effort to actually pick up and move enveloping much more than that parcel of land by LAX. Per a club source, the goal is to get the team itself to Los Angeles by the beginning of organized team activities in May, if not sooner. And as part of that, the team will construct a temporary/permanent facility, like the one the New Orleans Saints built for their training camp at The Greenbrier in West Virginia. (The resort spent $30 million to assemble a complex with meeting rooms, weight rooms, offices and three lavish practice fields in under 100 days in 2014.) The team's already looking for a site, with plots north of L.A. in Oxnard or Westlake a possibility. Additionally, according to the Rams source, regardless of whether the facility goes up that quickly or not, the plan is to run the draft and all associated events in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, they'll be looking for a place to build a state-of-the-art permanent facility, with an eye toward moving there in early 2018, a year before the Inglewood stadium is to open. Ideally, that facility would be near the temporary/permanent facility, so team officials won't have to move twice, and also close enough to the Coliseum and new Inglewood stadium. The other piece of housekeeping here, of course, would be the fate of the Chargers, which remains uncertain, though the Rams have given them multiple options as both a partner and a tenant. As for the more immediate future, most of the team operations will continue to be run out of RamsPark in suburban St. Louis for the next few months. Therefore, much of the team's draft prep and free-agent movement will be carried out there, which is at least a little awkward.
