Derrick Henry Is A First Round Talent

#21

No way I would draft Henry in 1st rd. He's has no change of direction quickness and relies on his size. He better have a great online like Dallas has.

If I'm a team that employs a stretch zone blocking scheme like Houston, Denver, etc.. and I need workhorse RB I draft Henry with reservations. This in my opinion will give him the best chance of succeeding. His length and long strides hurt his small area agility but if he goes to the aforementioned type offense he will be allowed to be a run cut runner that will showcase the skills he does have.

I don't know whether he is first, second, third rounder, I don't really care where's he drafted. I think he's good enough to succeed with the right team though.

Quote:This guy is an unbeilable player. He's a physical specimen and wherever he goes, he sets records. He's a little big for a RB but wow, is he powerful but so fast for his size. Id be surprised if he's not drafted in the 1st round.

I don't think he'll go in the first round.   He lacks wiggle.   He reminds me of Toby Gerhart or Ron Dayne.

Henry's draft stock seems to be all over the place. I have seen guys call him a 1st rounder and some say he would be there in the 3rd. If he is there in the 3rd you take him no questions ask. Would love to reunite him with Yeldon.

Nah I'm passing on Henry even in the third. We need defense so badly. Late round RB I LOVE is Alex Collins.

Henry would beat out Yeldon by the end of training camp.

Not sure what yall been watching but he reminds me of Eddie George mixed with Jim Brown

Idk, if Dave goes defense heavy in FA and goes defense in RD 1 and 2, then I think he could afford to get Henry if he is there. A good running game could help Blake and the defense by controlling the clock.

I'm thinking we go OL in the 3rd.

Hopefully Tretola is the pick.

I agree with the good running game. It's just hard to picture Dave spending a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder on a RB in consecutive years. I see him selecting a late back.

Curious to see what Collins forty time will be. I really like what I've been from him so I'm interested to see his long speed.

I believe a team will snatch him up by the 2nd. Not that I think they should though.

Lol, Henry needs space to get up and trucking. He would be hot garbage behind this OL, unless it takes a very huge jump forward next year.

He was consistently being tackled by 1 guy, behind the LOS, in that national championship game. You think he's going to start magically breaking those tackles behind the LOS in the NFL? No chance.

Nobody doubts his speed in the open field, but he needs big holes to run through. He's not going to be consistently see huge holes in the NFL, like he did at Bama. RBs need to be able to create on their own, at the next level. I wouldn't even consider touching him anywhere before the 4th round, at the earliest.

Plus, he just had 400 carries, in ONE season at Bama. Talk about taking years off of a position that already has a limited number of years in the NFL, as is. History does not favor any RBs who carry the ball that many times in one season.

Big and slow that gets tackled regularly by one guy while being big and slow. Lendale White 2.0

Full of soft serve takes in this thread (and not the kind you eat.)

The guy will be an NFL star.  A rare talent.  Given the devaluation of RB, I still think he cracks first round.  If not, he won't be long after.

I agree about that, I think some team is going to over draft him.

I see him as a smaller, but faster Brandon Jacobs honestly. Would you take a faster Jacobs in the 1st/2nd round?

edit: Actually, Jacobs ran a 4.44 at the combine and was probably 20 pounds heavier than what Henry will come in at. Henry will probably time around the same speed. Jacobs was a 4th round pick.

If he's there in the second round and no one else graded as high, hard to pass up.

Just about every team wanted to move him to LB coming out of HS.  Then he goes and becomes one of the best college RBs ever.

Not sure why some still refuse to recognize him for what he is.  Special.  At RB.

I can't stand Alabama.  But I have the sense to have proper respect for those who have earned it.

He does not match the build of the premier backs in the league right now. Maybe he can be good, but I don't think he is in the right generation of football to achieve greatness.

He's gonna beat out Yeldon here but he couldn't do it at Alabama. Lol.
