Disappointed that Rand was not present. I can't take Trump seriously. Still believe he's running just to sabotage the GOP. Don't think Carson fared any better after switching campaign managers. Think it's down to Trump, Cruz, and Rubio.

Rubio's the only sensible one of the bunch, but I can't get behind someone who insists that bulk data collection is a good thing, and that there being "by and large" a lack of "evidence of mass abuse" (his words, not mine) makes spying on Americans justifiable. It's essentially an admission on his part that it's being misused, he knows it's being misused, but no one's told him exactly how or on what scale it's being misused.

 

I'd pick Cruz out of that bunch. I mean, let's get this straight: I hate Ted Cruz's platform. I hate it. I hate his warhawk mentality, I hate his being forty years behind the times on civil rights, I hate his thinking that he can tell two people not to be together, or tell a woman what she can and can't do with her own body, and I hate his idiotic immigration policies. All that said, I believe he's more likely to scale back the mass spying on American citizens than any other candidate in the Republican field. Trump will have NSA malware scouring every corner of our personal electronic devices under the argument that if it can be connected to on the internet, the right to privacy does not apply. Rubio won't even try to be sneaky about it--he'll just drop new NSA facilities from sea to shining sea and tell us that, by and large, there's no evidence to suggest that their facilities are being used for anything other than homeland security on a large scale.

 

I mean, if it came down to Clinton or Cruz, lots of things go in the toilet for me, but Cruz goes on my ballot. Hillary was part of the team that helped Obama build the NSA data collection centers.

I hate Cruz warkhawkish foreign policy my self and admit his Goldman Sachs ties concerns me but well I just posted a Trump tirade and Rubio is anti-privacy neo-con that makes Bush look like a saint. I'd expect a Rubio administration to push for crap like National ID cards, expanding the NSA, expanding federal reach on state matters, he's an Authoritarian to the core.

Don't blame me!  Though I disagree with many Libertarian ideas, I've voted Libertarian almost every chance I've been given since 2004.  Including for State Governor.  I did vote Green Party a couple of times where available though.

At this point I see Rubio vs. Obama (Michelle as a proxy). Trump has a lot of supporters but is nobody's second choice. Once the field is down to Rubio, Cruz, and Trump, Trump won't be winning many primaries. Cruz is anti-establishment and the 'Pub establishment candidate always wins. If making a big deal about taking out a loan to finance his campaign isn't enough, they'll make up some other scandal to get rid of Cruz.

I'm not opposed to voting Republican if the right guy is in the race, but I'm just wondering if more conservative voters than myself also see these three as unelectable?

Cruz and Rubio are acceptable to most 'Pub voters and the favorites of many, and most people will vote for the lesser of two evils so even Trump could win over Hillary, especially if he plays up her sale of US policy to foreign governments for personal gain while Sec State.


Neither Hillary nor Monty Burns Sanders will draw out the African American vote like Obama did, so unless the Dems get someone else to run it will likely be a replay of the 2010 and 2014 midterms (hence my belief that Michelle will ultimately be the candidate).

I agree 100%.  I would rather stick rusty needles in my eyeballs than see her elected.  But, the odds are HIL -110, next closest candidate (Trump at the moment) +260, and I really don't think it will matter which candidate makes it onto the GOP ticket.
