Few disagree with bringing him back at a reasonable price. But has there ever been a running back, especially a former pro-bowler admit he

has lost a step? Every single one of them are like old Boxers, they don't see what everyone else sees, father time has hit.

I expect no different with Drew. He has a huge amount of pride and ego and I don't expect him signing again for  1.5 million per year.

If we could get him at that price, he could help the team and not take serious money away from potential other signings.

We really need a Tight end that can catch 60 balls a year. That will take some serious cash if in free agency.

 We need a guard and center, good ones, and of course will have to pay for a high

first round QB.

So if he demands 3-4 million per year then wish him well and let him go.

 

Fred Taylor certainly recognized where he was at in his career life cycle when the team started to bring in guys to replace him.  He held it off pretty well for a while, but eventually his role changed.  When the Jags moved on, he took an opportunity to play a lesser role in New England with the hope of getting a ring.  It didn't happen. 

 

I think even MJD has to recognize where he's at in his career.  I think he's a smart enough guy to recognize that his days of being a feature back are behind him, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute.  Regardless of where he winds up next year, his role will not be as the feature back for any team in this league. 

 

In the end, I think keeping a guy like MJD has more value to this team than it would to see him leave for another.  We're going to have a young QB and a reconfigured line next year.  Having his veteran leadership on the roster only helps this team.  Because the market for aging RBs isn't off the charts for contracts, I'd expect to see him looking at his options and extending his time here to finish his career.

Partially correct.  He thinks any amount is too much until the team extends an offer that he rejects.  If/when he signs a cheap deal with another team, TMD will shift his argument to how cheap Shad Khan is for not ponying up the peanuts required to keep MJD on the roster.

He's starting quicker and carrying tacklers like he used to the last couple games especially the Houston game. One time it took three or four to bring him down.

The foot injury from last year, and getting it twisted earlier this year must have hurt pretty badly. He carries a load on small feet.

 

Hope he does see his role change ala' Freddy T. Man, what a tandem they were.

 

One of the announcers even mentioned last week about Mojo and Todman.

This is a good RB Class, Seastrunk, Williams, Gordy, Cary... and a few others could all make a career for themselves

MJD has gotten paid well for his past performance with the Jags. I look at the decision this way... If MJD was a 29 year old 8 year experienced and slowing free agent RB from a different team, would I be an advocate for the Jags to go after him to sign? No, not in the rebuilding mode that this team is in.

Good point ATLjag, it cuts loyalty out of the process. There should be no loyalty unless you have a Tom Brady type situation. Loyalty cuts both ways, too, don't forget MJDs holdout last year when we were "All In". It set the tone for the season- he was signed for 2 more years and should have come to work.
