Well, that didn't take long. Go back to making up lies about Patrick Willis and dismissing Allen Robinson because Josh Gordon smokes weed. Being stupid is better than being a combination of stupid and someone that can't even keep their word.

Oh! You're 27 years old....you were only a baby when Jimmy had his best seasons. That explains a lot.

Does your age explain your inability to comprehend that Allen Robinson at 22 is, without question, better than Jimmy Smith was at 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26?

No, but it allows me to determine that the league is full of great players who strung together a great season or 3 before settling down to moderate career numbers. You'll get there one day.

Do you realize that, in general, a players' athletic prime is around 26-30? It's better to look at the average trajectory of an NFL wide receiver than to compare him to a screw up like Josh Gordon who gets in trouble for doing drugs.

Looks like Odell is better than Jerry Rice then.... Since OBJ has the most yards in the first 2 seasons. He's also better than Moss, Harrison, Owens, Carter, Fitz.....

Not arguing that. He could very well develop into a Hall of Famer if he keeps it up. He very well could pile up 80+ catch 1200+ yard receiving seasons. If he does, he WILL be the greatest receiver in franchise history. Or he could fall back to earth next season as Blake spreads the ball around to Hurns/Lee/Thomas more cutting into his catches and yardage and Yeldon develops into a better red zone runner cutting into his TDs. According to this, 12 of his 14 TDS came inside the red zone. Can he keep the pace up?

Except that's not really what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that it's stupid to write Robinson off as being inferior to Jimmy Smith because he doesn't have a 1,600 yard season yet. Surely you can understand that point.

Ok now we are starting to see eye to eye. If you look back, I never said I think Allen Robinson is better than Jimmy Smith is right now. My initial disagreement in this thread came when someone said "No there isn't [a debate to be had if ARob keeps this up]. There's one thing ARob does better than JSmooth...and that's high point a ball."

That isn't being fair to ARob who does some things, like uses his body and catch radius, remarkably well.

Can he keep up 14 TDs per year? I doubt it. Does he have the physical tools to be a better red zone target that Jimmy Smith was? I think so. Jimmy was elite. No argument from me there. I just think that Robinson has shown he has the tools to also be elite albeit with a different skillset than Jimmy had.

Now THAT I can agree with. I will concede to say that Robinson has the POTENTIAL to be super special. Each has a different skill set. Jimmy had blazing speed but my God Allen is so strong.

Quote:Great way to throw stats out there. Josh Gordon had a 1600 yard season in 14 games and got banned by the league to come back who knows when. You can throw what you assume to be clever insults out all you want and make assumptions on my education level, it doesn't change the fact that Allen Robinson has a ways to go to catch up to be as special a receiver as Jimmy was.

I find it amusing the ones to quickly bash intelligence are usually the least intelligent themselves.
Josh Gordon is a fantastic player though, he just has off the field issues.

It would appear that Allen Robinson's choice to go to Larry Fitzgerald's camp at University of Minnesota really gave him that extra edge this season.

When LF finally retires it would be wise for the Jaguars to hire him as a WR coach (if only as an Asst if nothing else, before anyone else gets the chance)!

Jimmy may not have had the stats that today's receivers have, but he was unreal. His speed alone made him a nightmare for DB's. He would make crazy circus catches look easy. ARob will probably more than shatter all the receiving records we have and may end up on Jimmy's level or surpass it, but Jimmy was probably the best receiver playing in his prime. He was simply amazing.

Those jump balls he pulls down should be enough to fill ESPN's top 10

He does. He just doesn't have the speed Jimmy had, but not many do. He'll end up with the better stats most likely, but the era they play in is a bit different of course. I love ARob though.

If he had Smith's speed, he wouldn't have been available in the Second Round. Obvious statement is obvious and all, but I think it just points out the limits in his game. As he stands though, I'm happy with him being on the roster for a looooooong time.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

And Smith didn't possess Robinson's athleticism / catch radius. My point is that they both great WRs despite having different skillsets.
