Defensive coordinator candidates

(This post was last modified: 01-17-2016, 01:19 PM by HolsterHusto.)

The more I read about Rocky Seto, the more I want him here as the DC. He currently has the assistant HC title so I don't know if DC would be considered a lateral move or not. Also, not sure if he wants to leave Pete Carroll as he has been with him for a long time. Everything I've read though is that he is a rising star as a coach.

Just read this article below that cites Seto's influence on the defense from this season.

Tackling technique is my pet peeve in the NFL. Don't know why its so hard for DBs to implement basic tackle technique.

this thread filled me with laughter but 15 minutes later I was hungry for more.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Quote:Not much. I believe it's written into Gus' contract that he gets to choose his own staff. Caldwell probably says things like, "No, Gus, the guy that plays Colonel Sanders can't be your defensive coordinator," but it's almost entirely in Gus' hands.

Probably not. Unless things come completely unhinged and Dave stands atop the scoreboard fiddling, I think he gets a second coach.

Based on the Jaguars vastly improved roster,  including the key piece at QB,  and people in the Jaguars personnel department getting recognized for their work from other teams,   Dave Caldwell probably should continue to be the team's G.M. if Gus Bradley is let go.   Yet,   if the Jaguars have a 4th straight losing season with double digit losses under the current regime,  until/ unless proven otherwise,  Shad Khan's overall reaction seems like an x factor.    So far,  Shad Khan has been much more patient with the Jaguars than his British Football team.

Good post. Firing managers in English football is very different than the NFL though, especially for Fulham.

Yep. No relegation in the NFL makes them completely different animals in my mind.

I'm curious as to what he adjusted to fit his players.

It's been almost two weeks since Babich got fired and we've only been linked to two coaches, so it makes sense that Gus is waiting out for someone on a playoff team's staff. Not sure if Seto is that guy, but he seems like the most logical choice given his familiarity with this style of defense.

This is a link to a cbs sports article saying that we have been trying to convince Jim Schwartz to be our D-Coordinator. This would be a good veteran hire.

Khan had a good coach at Fulham - Felix Magath and he ran him out. Fulham also used to be in the Barclays Premiere League and has been since relegated after Khans purchase.

Doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing (at least soccer wise) AND he removed the famous MJ statue off of the footballing grounds at Fulham FC. Tsk tsk tsk

The link seems to be saying we're failing to convince him to be our new DC.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Yeah love his style of defense and I think it would be perfect for our front 4 and linebackers. I think it would be the best spot for him too,our defense can only get better and there's a potential HC job at end of this year.

That's not how I read it.

It sounds like he's being extremely selective about where he winds up based on his personal situation.  There are a lot of opportunities out there.  He's looking for the right fit.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:.... former Lions coach Jim Schwartz is among the most coveted coordinators, but he'll be super selective. The Jags have been trying to woo him for quite some time, among others. He built a new house in Nashville and his kids are in high school and he's not going to take a job just to take a job according to those close to him. I'm not thoroughly convinced he takes any of these.
