The pro bowl is a popularity contest, there's no doubt about it. Still, like I said, if the team actually starts getting out of its own way and wins some playoff games he'll be well recognized.

i personally can't wait till we have people making the probowl but NOT as alternates. If you manage to get voted in on that basis and you are from jacksonville, imo it almost has more value. everyone knows the way the probowl works, I tapered my expectations for jags in that game a long time ago.

If you're an alternate and you play then you're credited as a pro bowler, if you're an alternate and decline then you don't get any special designation at all. Still just listed as an alternate.

Brady, Manning, Palmer, Ben, Brees are all in their last year's of their eras.


Bortles will consistently be in the top group of the next era QBs (Newton, Luck, Bortles, Wilson, Carr, Dalton, etc.), and more than likely be in several Pro-Bowls.

At least 3 of these guys will not be there. More likely 4, and it's possible all 6 will not be there. Dalton and Carr are automatic alternates but even Dalton is not going because of his thumb. If Bortles is not at least the fifth alternate after Brees and Eli I will be upset. Second in the league in TDs and 4400 yards. If guys like Cousins, Fitzpatrick, or whoever else get in before Bortles it will be a spit in the face of this franchise.

He also lead the league in t/o's and INT. Not sure why you would be mad that he didn't get in. His completion percentage is in the bottom half of starters, and his QBrating is right in the middle. Bortles had a great year, but a pro bowl snub, he is not. Not yet anyway.
