Defensive coordinator candidates

Quote:How could this possibly be a bad move?

Bringing in a great defensive mind as a consultant is a bad thing?

He was running probably one of the worst defenses in football history with the Cowboys a few years ago. This ain't the 80s and 90s anymore, te the game has changed.

Please god no.

In his last 13 seasons as a defensive coordinator, he's only had two seasons where his defenses have ranked outside the top 10 in both yards and points. One of those was his during lone season as Dallas' DC while the other was more of an anomaly during his tenure in Tampa. That's 11 of 13 seasons where his defenses were in the top 10 in both yards and points. To go even further, 5 of those seasons had top five rankings in both yards and points.

I'm not sure that warrants a "please god no."

His style is showing some age, but you do realize that his success came in the 2000s, right?

And go look at the players on the Dallas D in 2013. Yuuuuuuck.

Not sure how a guy with that pedigree coming in as a consultant could be taken as anything but a fantastic hire.

Hate to say it, but putting myself in a set of unbiased defensive coordinator shoes, I'd rather go to Philly too..

Add to that the fact that Kiffin was the one who taught Carroll his Defense while the two were at Arkansas. Kiffin is a good guy to act as a sounding board if for no other reason than to have him in the room during the interviews. The man knows this Defense from a schematic standpoint and would provide value to the team.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Tampa did have a top 10 defense for pretty much his whole time there
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

That's big considering Cowboys had a a very underrated D this year. Only thing that would worry me is the lack of turnovers by the Cowboys DBs.

Cowboys fans seem to think highly of him.

They don't really have playmakers in their secondary. Also turnovers are nice, but I'd rather have a defense that doesn't allow points and that's exactly what their secondary did this past season.

You have to remember those statistics are for the whole defense, not just defensive backs. So they fall on the DC.

How many games did Orlando Scandrick miss? I know  he played in some of them.

A big part of not allowing points is takaways. Give me players who intercept the football.

Monte Kiffin is in Jax too apparently. Possibly to work alongside Henderson?
