CNN Repub Debate

I notice nobody has created any threads for any of the dem debates, so that tells me most people on here are at least clinically sane.

We have Trump and Cruz supporters here, so we have plenty of insane people.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

What would be the point? I don't even bother watching them at this point. I'd vote for Sanders over any of the three Republican front runners, I'd vote for Cruz over Clinton, and if Trump or Rubio get the nomination I'll take my life savings and move to Nauru. It might be rapidly sinking into the ocean, but it's still a small, south Pacific island unaffiliated with the United States, dammit!

If your life savings is in the market, I'd suggest you pull it out now.

It's some combination of in a savings account, in a safety deposit box (which is apparently frowned upon now?!) and buried in a box beneath a rock under a specific tree in a field somewhere in Colorado. Tongue

Heck, just pull it out, pay the penalty, and buy as many rental houses as it will allow you. Monthly income, 3-4% appreciation every year, tax deductions, and best of all, not affected by foreign markets and the price of oil.

Sure, you get the occasional dead beat tenant, but hey....

Quote:Wait, what?

Michelle Obama?

You're a Dem, or at least vote that way, right? Forget Michelle for a moment. If Barack Obama was allowed to run for a third term (say the Supremes found the two term limit unconstitutional by some wild stretch of the imagination) and was the Dem candidate, would you vote for him? Would you instead vote for one of Trump, Cruz, or Rubio? Would you vote for the Green Party candidate? Or maybe just stay home?

What difference does it make if Barack Obama were effectively presiding behind a figurehead?

And I toss this question out to all of the Dems here. Would you vote for a third term for Barack Obama if he were miraculously the candidate? If not, what would you do instead?

Barack Obama gets the African American voters out in record numbers. Without an African American candidate the turnout will be more like it was in 2010 and 2014. The Dem establishment are not happy with Hillary or Sanders; they tried to draft Biden and failed. Why not an Obama 3rd term by proxy? If I were in charge of the Dems I'd do everything I could to make it happen.

Now now. When was the last time the democrats tried to run a former first lady as a third term of her husband?

The two-term limit is actually in the Constitution. I forget which Amendment it is, but it was drafted specifically to prevent another FDR-like dynasty from happening. Harry Truman was the last President who was eligible to run for a third term.

Hillary is so far left that Bill looks like an old-school Republican compared to her. She's not a proxy for a third term of Bill Clinton in any way.

On the one hand correct she is to the left... But thats not how shes being run.

And Truman was allowed to (but declined) to run for a second term in his own right. Finishing out fdrs term didnt count towards his term limit.

I'd like to see a Cruz-Carson ticket. I feel the two together would seriously cash in on votes.

The only thing that terrifies me more than Ted Cruz's thumb being on the big red button is knowing that we're only one bullet away from having Ben Carson's thumb there.

I'm not too worried about having a neuro=surgeon's finger on the button. It's a heck of a lot better than Donald Trump's.

Except Donald Trump actually has international relationships and worked/negotiated with foreign powers and political entities.

You mean like British Parliament proposing to ban him from the continent?
