You're confusing killing and murder again.

Quote:Yes. Sorry to end your attempts at moral relativism, but some people believe (rightfully so) that to murder and to kill are not the same thing. I have the moral authority, as a human being authorized by the people of our nation and community, to end the life of a person convicted of murder. End of story.

So, to be clear, so long as someone else says it is ok to kill someone, it is justified for you to do so -no thought or decision on your part, it is completely ok, so long as you are doing your job.

Not at all. The moral authority is granted by the people of our nation and the community, so you are in agreement, with rollerjag's point, I think that is just a given at this point.

End of story. Well, not really...I just thought the end of story tag sounded tough and conclusive, although it is rather meaningless.

Also, no need to point out a distinction between murder and killing. From a pure legal perspective, it is obvious, and perhaps moreso from a common sense point of view.

Not according to the same authority that grants an executioner the right to kill.

Jury verdict, good enough for government work. You trying too hard to moralize here, just as you always do in capital cases. Perp gets his day, his verdict and his sentence; that is sufficient for me.

I recognize the concept of innocence, a relationship between killing a convict and murdering the unborn is an unbalanced and unequal proposition. That the government is morally wrong on abortion does not preclude it from being correct in the other case

Regardless, the government merely recognizes the mother's moral authority and dominion over her own body.

I'm not TRYING to moralize here-I am doing exactly that.

Related question- In the cases where someone who was found to be innocent after being put to death, has a murder been committed?

And again, to be clear, you are fine individually killing someone upon some other person saying it is ok......no self justification, no need to value whether this person, in your own mind, is worthy of killing. Just doin' the job, is that your deal. As long as your government says it is ok.

Yes, but that doesn't mean they are right. I'm right. This isn't news.

You really need to look up the definition of murder. An error is not a murder.

As long as the JURY OF THE CONVICTED'S PEERS rendered a guilty verdict then I'm ok with it. I'm really not changing my story though you keep trying to get me to.

I appreciate that you feel strongly about this, though I think you're wrong.

You are only right in that your moral authority applies...to you, nobody else. You hold no moral authority over any woman's body.

When you project your morality onto others, it does. That's what you're doing when you say a woman terminating a pregnancy, or the doctor performing the procedure at her request, is a murderer, as much an incorrect interpretation of the word murder as nate's.

Quote:The reported bruising on his head including fluid discharge from his ears along with lethargic behavior reported by witnesses leads me to think someone had a hand in it, whether it was intentional or not. Filing a false report saying his car was stolen with the child in it doesn't look good either.

I seem to have missed the part where he was lynched before his trial. Could you give me a link to that?
