This Seattle Defense the Jags want...is it sustainable?

Oh yeah, they also were able to get their franchise quarterback in the third round because he was too short. Their whole team is based on players other teams didn't want at the time.

Remember the DPR fiasco? How many picks did we waste on that Snipe Hunt?

Quote:"nickel hybrid" is something I've talked about for a long while. I'm in agreement with you here. In fact, the more that I look over the 4 - 2 - 5, the more I think we have the personnel that would easily swap into it, but with a few personnel additions at critical spots but that is necessary for this roster regardless of the Defensive scheme in my opinion. I think the 4 - 2 - 5 will allow you to leave Poz in the Middle and bring Skuta alongside him. Now you have two interior blitzers that can take on Guards and also tackling machines that are protected by a Front Four. Move Telvin to one of your LB/S/CB spots and let him blitz from outside the box and / or run down Tight Ends. Put Cyprien as the other Hybrid and then draft you a Single High Safety. When you need more coverage, you can either swap out a Defensive Lineman or even one of the LBs. I mean, it makes sense on paper but lots of things crash and burn once they get on grass.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Why we have to be a seattle??
If we going to imitate something how about the D that Del Rio used to run that other teams used to truly fear. all they do is laugh at the jags D now as they roll up their score. ![]()

Would you say the 4 - 2 - 5 is similar to the defense Arizona is running? I won't claim to have watched many of their games, nor do I pay enough attention to alignments and stuff like that, but they often talk about Deone Bucannon playing the hybrid S/LB role and they've always used Mathieu as a hybrid S/CB. Maybe it's an alignment they mostly used prior to Mathieu going down, but it's seemed to work well for them. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! From what I have read it does seem similar, but I haven't watched them enough to know that's what they do. It would make sense however with the talent that they have. I'll pay more attention to them this weekend and see if their Defense looks familiar.

Bucannon pretty much plays at ILB the whole game but Arizona will play a 4-2-5 on obvious passing downs. In this instance, they bring another Safety on the field and bump Mathieu down into the slot. Bucannon stays at a ILB spot with 5 DB's on the field. Because Bucannon is so athletic while also being able to play the run like a LB, the defense is not only very flexible but also super athletic.
