Gus Bradley gets 1 year extension

Quote:What about the fact that we will have a 50% roster turnover on defense? An actual LEO, an actual OTTO, an actual FS, an actual CB1, an actual pass rushing DE. That's assuming Cyprien isn't replaced as well.

This doom and gloom stuff is so out of whack it's ridiculous. Did y'all not see what Caldwell did with the offense? They might not change as single thing to that unit.

Do you not understand the national perception of this team is of a well-coached one on the rise? Some of you need to step away and try an objective perspective. This team is not a dumpster fire. This team is ascending. This team is close. Real close. After the offseason and the FA period you will all see it.

Um has any of this actually happened yet?

You don't know a damn thing that is going to happen.

We have been saying for 3 years that we are going to get a real FS.  We have yet to see the team even try.

Quote:Gus got an extension so free agents won't be scared away yet he could still get fired after a bad season....

That is the dumbest [BAD WORD REMOVED] I have ever read.

I work in IT.  If a part is broken you have to identify the broken part and replace it.  If you replace the wrong part it will continue to be broken.

We lost Tom Coughlin because a people thought we could do better.  Those people were wrong.

Del Rio after quickly turning the team around and getting us to the playoff became the next scapegoat.  It appears he is doing the same thing in Oakland.  Jack was not the problem.

Caldwell almost completely gutted the roster.  That first year people were calling us the worst team in the history of the NFL yet Gus inspired his players to over-achieve and we won 4 games.  That was all Gus.

If you were one of those calling for the Coughlin firing, the Del Rio firing and now the Gus firing than you are stupid.  That bears repeating: you are stupid...  Thankfully stupid people are not running the team.

We saw early signs from Coughlin that he was the guy (ummmmm seee 1996). We saw early signs from Jack (playoffs in year 3). We've seen nada from Gus.

Here's a bird on my head, your opinion is invalid

That's just flat not true.   We tried to sign Devin McCourty last offseason.

McCourty was not coming here. That was a pipe dream.

Quote:They're talking about it on 1010XL right now, and they're saying the extension is meaningless in almost every way except when the team is looking at free agents.  Players may not be as willing to come here if they think the coaching situation could change, and having a coach in the final year of his contract would certainly be reason for second thought.

Agree or not, giving Bradley a 1 year extension doesn't prevent him from being fired if he doesn't deliver in 2016. Nothing has changed about that.  If the team isn't competing for a playoff spot and the division next year, Gus is going to take the fall.

Coughlin's mismanagement of the salary cap is what eventually doomed him.

Del Rio was a scapegoat for Gene.

Most GB apologists choose to ignore his W/L record in his first two seasons, so it's interesting that you give him all the credit for the 4 wins he managed to eek out.  How would you sum up his 3rd year then?  2 years of HC experience under his belt, a much more solid roster than his first year, a historically easy schedule...and he got only 5 wins?

Comparing Gus to either Tom or Jack is a disgrace to the latter two.

GB's first 3 years:  12W, 36L

TC's first 3 years:  26W, 26L (2 playoff wins, 2 playoff losses)

JDR's first 3 years:  26W, 23L (1 playoff loss)

Yep, they're all basically the same guy.

When Gus is fired sometime during the next season, you might be the one who is feeling pretty stupid.

That doesn't necessarily mean they were wrong, it just means the part they chose was inferior to the part they removed (using your example).

Hes going to be the guy who says "i knew he should have been fired." Watch. GB is no where near the pedigree of JDR or TC.

So what does that have to do with them not trying?

Not trying was the premise of your statement not that they tried and failed or that they only tried to get players who wouldn't come here.

Going after one guy is trying? That is like going on a diet for a day not losing 20 lbs and stopping the diet.

You have absolutely zero clue if he was, or wasn't going to come here, just like the rest of us, so why are you trying to throw something at the wall that literally cannot and wont stick.
