Quote:Also, why is there no rule against what this insurance company is doing. That is, they know full well that people will pay extra just to avoid a fine, so they make you so you have to buy this additional package if you want to avoid it. In other words, they're using the government fine as leverage to pull off what truly is a scam here, and I can still expect to be fined by my government for not being willingly scammed. Because there's a loophole. Insurance companies started labeling their plans "Fixed Indemnity" to avoid the rules of Obamacare. Of course what you're getting, as explained earlier in this topic, isn't health insurance at all. You're not covered for anything. You'll be lucky if you see much if any savings. What you have isn't a health insurance plan at all. Honestly if you're doing it to just avoid the fine, I'd pay the fine. Fixed Indemnity isn't worth what you're paying for it. If you want health insurance, then Fixed Indemnity still is no good, and you should probably consider paying for a better service on the market. Also make sure you're not actually eligible for a subsidy. Based on your location and your income, and the fact that your employer plan is not obamacare compliant, you should be eligible for one. Your subsidy would be something like $235/month.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:So Jags02 is upset he doesn't have a real insurance plan?He does have a real insurance plan. It's just through a shady as hell insurer that makes him pay $600 per year more to avoid the Obamacare penalty. Seriously, why the hell is there a penalty?!
Thats where the money for the subsidies come from aka socialism rarely makes sense aka obama campaigned against clinton on how inhumane a penalty was to working class families.

What he has is a Medical Indemnity Plan. Even the website says that it's not meant to be insurance, but a supplement to insurance. http://www.paisc.com/yourplan/essentialstaffcare.aspx "Fixed medical indemnity benefit plans are a supplement to health insurance. They are not a substitute for essential health benefits or minimum essential coverage as defined by federal health law. If you do not have other health insurance coverage, you may be subject to a tax penalty. Please consult with your tax advisor for more information."

You can't blame Obama because you picked a plan that is not insurance. Anyway, I'm curious if Jags02 has checked the Marketplace. There are real plans, and depending on his situation he may be eligible for a tax credit.
