Jalen Ramsey

Quote:If he's the guy the Jaguars want and they have properly scouted him, it's because he probably will get ints from the center field position...
The Jags will properly scout Ramsey, no doubt about that. But the scouting report may very well show that one of his few weaknesses is poor hands. So what would the Jags do with him? Put him at free safety and put up with the dropped "turnovers"?

Or could the drops be coached out? Our new assistant DB coach was a safety in Detroit. Part of properly scouting a player is figuring out which weaknesses are coachable.

I would almost guarantee that he would get a ton of reps on a JUGS machine

I'd say he'll run 4.4 and 37+ vert, may well break the broad jump record.

After the combine I don't think he gets out of the top 5.

He ran low 4.5 in high school. He should be able to get that into the 4.4s with some technique work

4.4 sounds accurate, I think he'll top 37 inches, and no way he breaks the world record Byron Jones set in the combine broad jump last year.

It was a world record including Olympic athletes.

Nope, but it will still be a very impressive number. Not trying to belittle how great his jumps should be just cause he'll fall short of Jones hah.

Jones record is pretty crazy, Marquise Goodwin was an Olympic long jumper and he got 11ft on the broad jump ,well short of Jones.

If the Jags are able to sign a starting outside corner and a starting free safety in FA (quite possible given the amount of $$$ the Jags can afford) would you guys still want to draft Ramsey?

If not, then who?

I would normally answer Myles Jack. However if the Jags could also sign O. Vernon, that would allow him to play Leo and free up Fowler to use his strength of versatility which the team has already stated is part of their plans...making the selection of Jack somewhat questionable

I could also answer Buckner but the questions about him have already been stated on this board

VHIII or Alexander? Where would they play given the fact that both starting outside corners would be filled

My question is if Ramsey is the great FS prospect people on here say he is why does everyone and their mom have him listed as a CB prospect?

Daniel Jeremiah calls him a safety in his Top 50 rankings. (Emphasis added.)

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(82,82,82);"><a>Ramsey</a> was a three-year starter for the Seminoles. He has lined up at safety, cornerback and nickel during his career. He is a tall, long athlete with excellent short-area quickness, long speed and fluidity. Although he is a gifted cornerback, I believe his best pro position is safety. He is very instinctive to read, react and close on the ball. He has outstanding ball skills. He is very aggressive to fill and support the run. He brings energy to his side of the ball and he's made big plays in high-pressure moments throughout his career. Overall, <a>Ramsey</a>'s explosiveness, versatility and playmaking skills are very similar to Tyrann Mathieu's coming out of LSU.

My problem with Ramsey at FS is he doesn't get many int's. It has been said he has poor hands and drops a lot of would be turnovers

I was surprised when I saw that. Maybe DJ did that because he spends more time at CB?
