Jalen Ramsey

Quote:My problem with Ramsey at FS is he doesn't get many int's. It has been said he has poor hands and drops a lot of would be turnovers
mine as well, I really hope we can get Weddle in FA or Berry of course but if not I wouldnt dislike a Ramsey pick I just question it at 5

But he does get a lot of interceptions at CB? If a guy has poor hands, he is going to drop the ball from either position.

Until we know if the Chiefs tag Berry, I will assume he will stay in KC. Weddle is more likely because the Chargers don't want him back.

Two NFL.com mocks have the Jaguars picking Ramsey. Daniel Jeremiah has him not being available when we are on the clock.

Great point! (no sarcasm intended)

Of course you would want all your DB's to have soft hands. But imo if their is one guy in your secondary that has really soft hands it should be your free safety

Which is why I prefer Nelson over Weddle as a FA

Get a pass rush and even a decent safety gets INTS. I don't think drafting a FS this high is necessary. It's like getting bullets before you buy a gun.

I like Myles Jack better. Get guys who can cause havoc on opposing QBs. This will help anyone whose back there in the secondary.

Using that logic, we don't need to upgrade the FS position.

That's not what I said. I said I don't think a top 5 pick is necessary. Pass rush helps secondary. Secondary does not help pass rush and is hindered by lack of one. I suppose their are other safeties we can either acquire in the draft of FA.

That does not mean we have to draft a pass rusher first. We can pick Ramsey, then select a lineman in the second round.

I think Jack would be a more

Impactful player than Ramsey.

If the past 6 or 7 Super Bowl champions are anything to go by, a special free safety is an absolute must.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

What position would he play on our defense?

I agree, and the guy could be the best coverage MLB in the game. If we could get Oliver Vernon in FA Telvin-Jack-Fowler woild have the potetial to be up there with Car. LB corpse with more pass rush. If we could also add Weddle in FA, oh man

I think Weddle is finished but I wouldn't be upset if we landed Jack. That dude is freakishly athletic.

2005: Chris Hope

2006: Bob Sanders, 2006 Defensive Player of the Year

2007: Gibril Wilson

2008: Ryan Clark

2009: Darren Sharper, 2009 All Pro

2010: Nick Collins, 2010 2nd team All-Pro

2011: Antrel Rolle, 2010 2nd team All-Pro

2012: Ed Reed, future Hall of Famer

2013: Earl Thomas, 2013 All-Pro

2014: Devin McCourty, 2010 Pro Bowler

2015: Kurt Coleman, 2nd in the league in interceptions with 7|Darian Stewart, a nobody

You're welcome to continue being dismissive but those are some pretty big names. The game has evolved quite a bit since 2008. A great free safety is not a luxury.

This is the first time I have seen the names Chris Hope and Gibril Wilson. That would not be the case if they were big names.

I can't wait to compare Ramsey with Jack at the combine

I would hate to choose between them

It would not shock me to see Dallas take Jack

You will be waiting forever. Ramsey and Jack don't play the same position so you can't really compare them.

Think about this: Which player is better at his natural position?

The Chargers could take Jack.

You're right. I can't compare them by position but I can compare them athletically

"Which player is better at his natural position"? An excellent question...imo currently a toss up
