Braxton Miller

#1

Is apparently balling out at the Senior Bowl and coaches are excited not just over his physical attributes, but his route running and understanding of the position. Says he models his game after Antonio Brown. Should be interesting to watch, but then again Dee Ford also showed out at the Senior Bowl, so those little flashes could be exactly that; little flashes.

Any other project players out there that interest you guys?

It looks like Braxton Miller will be better in the NFL than he was at Ohio State if the Cowboys are smart enough to let him play outside.

In another thread you were advocating trying Miller out at RB. Nice consistency.

I never said Braxton Miller should be a running back. IMO it would have been a good idea to have him practice a little bit from that position just to see what he can do there.

I've seen prognosticators sending him to us in their mocks.

I suppose they feel he could bridge the gap between what the Jags tried to do with Denard, and what Braxton was actually able to do after moving from under center with the Buckeyes.

I'm certainly not opposed to him at the right value, but I'm sure a "set" team will draft him higher than we could afford to.

The problem with that idea is Braxton Miller switched to WR, a position we don't need to upgrade. If Miller is projected as a top 10 pick, he obviously will be a starter in the NFL, which means we don't need him. If we want a backup WR, obviously he will not be our first round pick.

I do think Miller will be good as a multipurpose player wherever he goes.

I'd take him in the 2nd....

He's almost a full year older than Allen Robinson. He's gonna a good player, but let someone else take him at his price and age.

Allen Robinson is only 22. Why should anyone be scared off by Braxton Miller being almost 23?

Obviously. Only stupid fans think it is a risk to pick any player because he is 23.

Turning 24 in your rookie season is not good. Not much growth potential left. There are plenty of articles on this.

I mean Braxton Miller is not Brandon Weeden old.  I can't remember off the top of my head how old he was when he was drafted, 28 or 29.. That is old.  I'll be one of those "stupid fans" and say that Braxton Miller's age is a little older than desired though.  He will be 24 during his first season in the NFL.  I don't see him as a day 1 starter, so don't expect any major production till he's 26-27.  That's old considering guys like Amari Cooper and Todd Gurley will probably have 3 or 4 Pro Bowls under their belt before Braxton Miller even has a starting job.

New signature because HIGH SCORE found the periodic table offensive. Pathetic LOL

If there are plenty of articles on the subject you should post one.

regardless of how many articles there are on it I agree in this situation mainly because this is a guy who is brand new to the position like someone else said you can't expect him to be a dependable player till he's been in the league 2-3 years at which point he is already 27.

If he has soft hands he might be worth a look but I also don't like having to scheme a player to get production out of him like they do with Tavon Austin and Cordarelle Patterson.

In my eyes he is a 2nd round luxury pick.  We aren't good enough to make luxury picks

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

Yep, turning 24 in your rookie season is a reasonably sized red flag to begin with. It's gotta be even worse for a guy switching positions.

He may not even be available at 38 based on his performance at the Senior Bowl. We are talking about a fast riser here. Other teams could use him in his rookie year if they are desperate at the position.

Braxton Miller is one of those prospects that make you wish Al Davis was still alive. Good ol' Al might give up his whole entire draft to get him. God bless his soul.

Is he working out/combining as a WR? What do you think of him converting to FS? Just thinking outside the box on this guy.

GO JAGS!!
