Newton could use a little more modesty and dignity

It surprises me that so many people are surprised that Cam can get on peoples nerves. He carries on and dances a bit more to peoples likings. It's a personal preference. It's really not hurting anything in the long run. What people really should question is why the Charlotte newspaper continues to publish opponents fans letters to the editor about Cam's actions. The lady that said her daughter was offended by Cam's dancing so she had her look at the scantily clad cheerleaders and mascot made me laugh the most.

The thing I don't understand is that people act like Cam is the only one who does this. Sure he's getting attention this year bc they're winning, but he's not even close to the most ridiculous celebrations.

AB jumping on the goal post

Gronk spikes

Stevie Johnson used to be over the top

TO

Chad Ocho-Johnson-Cinco

Freddie T's throat slash

Plus all the guys getting injured celebrating sacks, tackles, tds.

I just don't understand why Cam is such a villain for doing nothing that doesn't happen in every game, every week.

I can't help but feel like this is the result of people holding his past against him a little too much.

In any case, the OPs trolling on this one was rather good. I'd give it 8/10 just based on the responses he's garnered. I don't have a horse in this race and don't particularly cares who wins, I just want to see a good game. Sadly, I was rather vested in Arizona (I'm a Carson Palmer/Larry FItzgerald/Bruce Arians fan) and they let me down.

This is something I'm trying to understand as well. Rodgers would championship belt after every TD but dancing and handing balls to kids it to much? Lol.

Once, after beating Michigan to win the Big Ten title, Head Coach Woody Hayes was asked "Coach, why did you go for two points with a 50-14 lead?” Hayes responded with "Because they wouldn’t let me go for three!"

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Classic!

Reminds me of when Cincy under Sam Wyche beat the Oilers and Jerry Glanville 61-7.

The only two guys that even remotely come close to him in celebrations are TO and Ocho Cinco...the other guys are pretty bare bones when it comes to celebrations.  Cam has even admitted that he plans everything out in advance because he wants it to look good.  I thought all three were funny, but TO and Ocho got TONS of hate as well.  Compared to them I think Cam is actually spared a lot of it.

How often do guys get injured celebrating something?  When they do they become the butt of jokes for years....heck, Gus Frerotte getting hurt was one of the funniest and dumbest things I've ever seen in my life.  It only goes to show there are risks in everything you do.

I think the hate for Cam is entirely overblown as well.  Even the people that say the celebrating is a bit over the top for them aren't completely killing him for it, they just wish he'd tone it down a bit.  I've heard a lot worse about other players.  Everyone needs a villain, and this is an easy one for the media.....I just don't think I will buy in on this one.

Didn't realize his older brother was Cecil Newton Jr, who was a backup center for us for a couple years. I barely remember that name

I just don't see his stuff as over the top. For instance the Titans dance where they got all mad about it. It was his normal dab with a little dance after.

He only did it additionally when they started whining to him about it, which to me, is part of the "trash talk" mindset.

He's not running to midfield, pulling out markers or cell phones, etc. I see a td dance as long as that Titans one every week.

Kind of sounds like a bit of jealousy to me. (Not you, UCF Knight, but the people actually complaining.)

Your thinly veiled racism is showing. I can see your pasty potbelly. It's disgusting.

I don't think it's a race thing for most people. I'm black and I don't like Cam Newton. My reasoning might be a little different though, I think his public persona is phony.

What's his private persona like?

Not the kiss-a-baby front he puts on the for the cameras.

I suppose men can change, though. I can't ever trust a thief though.

If I could do what he can, I'd probably have a hard time restraining my cockiness as well. The Larry Fitzgerald types aren't very common.

Also, I'd put MJD in that realm for celebrations (and cockiness), and no one here seemed to mind it then.

Have you ever done any research about what he's done in our community? Or that's not as fun?

I like Cam.  I like his celebrations.  He plays football, he's not representing the US State Department.

Lots of players put on a front for the media in the same way lots of players are far more quiet and reserved than on camera than they would be otherwise. Doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I wish Cam Newton and TO in his prime played on the same team, would of been a great show.

It also helps that their play on the field backs it up

I remember a couple of years ago when Carolina was still struggling, Cam would still do the dance even when they were down many points with the game out of reach
