Senior Bowl players of special interest

Based on the buzz from the draftniks and scouts on twitter I would list the biggest winners as follows:

North team winners were Braxton Miller, Darian Thompson, Jihad Ward, Vernon Butler, and Carson Wentz.

South winners were Jalen Mills, DJ Reader, Noah Spence, and Sheldon Rankins.

Saw a vine of Spence absolutely blowing up John Theus, dude is a stud. I selfishly hope that Soence is bombing in his interviews so we can see him at 38.

I didn't see hardly anything about Cash this week actually. Saw a guy that said a scout liked the Buchanon hybrid SS/LB role for him but that wasn't based on his performance this week.

Quote: Noah Spence is legitimately one of the best players in this draft class. He dominated Le’Raven Clark routinely and looked comfortable rushing off both sides of the line of scrimmage. If teams aren’t scared off by his character, he should find his name called very early in the first round of the draft.

-Javon Hargrave from South Carolina State was a late addition with Sheldon Rankins out and he seized the opportunity handed to him. On back to back rushes against LSU’s Vadal Alexander he bullied him right into the lap of the Jaguars’ coach pretending to be quarterback. With only one day of practice under his belt, the game on Saturday is going to be huge for him.

-D.J. Reader had another productive practice session. He tends to fire out of his stance a little bit too low, but he has rare athleticism for a 340 pound defensive tackle that makes him hard to move off the line of scrimmage. Reader moves very well laterally.

-Bronson Kaufusi is a very polished defensive lineman. He’s not the flashiest or most athletic player, but he has a host of pass rush moves and drew a lot of praise from the Jaguars coaching staff.

Dadi Nicolas and Shawn Oakman have been hugely disappointing this week. The game appears to move to fast for both of them and were easily handled by opposing offensive lineman.

-Jordan Jenkins is the typical “jack of all trades master of none” linebacker. He was decent rushing the passer and looked smooth running through drills as an off ball linebacker. He solidified himself as a Day 2 pick this week.

Maybe Spence will sneak up high in the draft if teams aren't scared off by his past transgressions.

no way Noah Spence goes in the top 5.

Doesn't have the measurables and doesn't check the character box.

The only teams that may not be scared off by his past transgressions are the Cowboys and Bengals. You can forget about him going to Jacksonville.

Javon Hargrave is a guy I'd love to see the Jags draft.

Telvin Smith had "problems" also. Turns out that he's pretty good.

Per Rotoworld:

Quote:Noah Spence has been 'downright dominant'

Noah Spence | CLG

(January 28, 2016 4:12 PM EST)

Titans reporter Jim Wyatt reports Eastern Kentucky DE Noah Spence has been "downright dominant at times" in Senior Bowl practices.

Spence has been one of this week's biggest eye openers, setting Twitter aflutter with his routine harassment of quarterbacks. Rotoworld's Josh Norris has been among those impressed by the Ohio State transfer, pegging him as the No. 13 overall player in the draft. Character is the concern for Spence, who was booted by the Buckeyes after failing two drug tests.

Teams comparing RB Drake to Reggie Bush

Kenyan Drake | CLG

(January 28, 2016 7:03 PM EST)

According to NFL draft insider Tony Pauline, teams are comparing Alabama RB Kenyan Drake to Reggie Bush "after seeing his burst and explosion up close" at the Senior Bowl.

Pauline says the Panthers and Saints are "very high" on Drake. Drake was a timeshare back behind Derrick Henry in college, but stands a robust 6-foot-1, 210 and averaged well over six yards per carry in the SEC. He was also a superior receiver to Henry. Drake's versatility and lateral agility could fit nicely in a space-back role handling 9-14 touches per game.

Rival exec: Browns should take Wentz at No. 2

Carson Wentz | CLG

(January 28, 2016 8:19 PM EST)

A "highly-respected personnel man" believes the Browns should take North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall.

"If the Browns take Carson Wentz at No. 2 they'd be set for 15 years," the "top NFL personnel executive" told reporter Mary Kay Cabot. "He's the best quarterback in the draft. If I were picking at No. 2, I'd take him. It will solve all of their problems and they'd get that team turned around." Cabot reports the quarterback-starved Browns have "genuine" interest in the FCS product. Per Cabot, scouts have "marveled" at Wentz's size (6-foot-5, 233 pounds) and "other physical attributes" at this week's Senior Bowl.

hmm, interesting.  Hopefully he will fall and we can get him in the mid rounds.  I think he would be an upgrade to Cyp.

I don't care where we get him, obviously you want to keep value under consideration, but I want spence on the team.
