Allen Robinson at the Pro Bowl

Some sort of Hunger Games involving Ray Rice, Aaron Hernandez and Greg Hardy might be entertaining. Although it would sell fewer $175 jerseys.

Excited to root on real wide receivers this year (as a former Rams fan who hasn't seen one since... Torry Holt?... I've forgotten what that's like.)

Quote:Does anyone else wish they would do away with the pro bowl game and have some other type of event? Maybe like a skills challenge with live fan voting.

I used to watch those pro bowl skills challenges or whatever they were called back in the day. The last one I remember was when Leftwich participated as a representative of the Jaguars. I would watch those again if they brought them back. The pro bowl? Not so much. I tried that first year they moved it before the Super Bowl, but I'll never get those 3 hours back now.

The QB challenge was the best part of the probowl imo.

Allen Robinson talked about looking forward to next season from Hawaii.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...se-in-2016

Quote:The Jaguars' leading pass catcher, part of a platoon of good young wide receivers alongside Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee, will be heading back to Jacksonville, after his stay in Hawaii, to start catching passes with his teammates. He wants to improve on an 80-catch, 1,400-yard, 14-touchdown season, if that's possible.

LoL saw the jersey and was like...."ooooh that's sweet"

Then saw the $174 price tag.

Eeehhh that's practically a season ticket.

I Definitely agree.

Probowl is an absolute joke.

It was never an "intense" game. But, it has absolutely been ruined from what it was in the past.

Let's see:

- it's no longer AFC vs NFC

- it's now played week prior to the SB

- selected players drop out in hoardes

I remember there used to be alot of money on the line for the players. The winning conference made more than the losing conference. IDK if it's still that way?

-The NFL should make it mandatory for selected players to participate unless they are currently injured prior to the game. Every player works for the NFL,, not just their respective teams.

-The NFL should move the game back to a couple weeks after the Superbowl, allowing many players to actually go to the game.

-The Probowl should go back to AFC vs NFC,, and put a lot of money on the line for the teams (if it's not still that way).

If they can't go back to those things,, just abolish this abomination of ridiculousness.

I haven't bought a jersey in years. Player tees is usually my go to. You can get 4 for the price of one jersey and the jerseys available to the public are basically glamorized t shirts

aye yo.. completely off topic.. well sorta. I was thinking of Montel Owens and Kassim Osgood having been probowlers and uhh... Lol!

Yo, anybody remember when Osgood had to jump from a window in Arlington cause some chick's jealous ex showed up with a gun?

I swear man, between that, Potroast getting binged across the head with a bottle at da club and MJD getting caught sucker punching security in St.Augustine, Gene's "good character" guys have been thru it.

Im pretty sure someone will help me out with amending the specifics. Please do tell

Fred your entire post makes absolutely no sense.

They really need to make it like MLB.  Winners get more money and "win" the coin toss to open the Super Bowl and potential OT... something like that.   Put the game mid-season.  Still not sure that's enough of a reward to justify putting in the marquee quarterbacks, though.

It boils down to the game is a significant risk to players and does not provide adequate reward. It's not an adequate reward because it probably doesn't generate enough revenue to make it worth their while. These are a bunch of guys probably making top dollar on their respective teams. Why would they risk their bodies in a meaningless game that doesn't add much to their bottom line? Why would the league shell out significant money for a game that doesn't get the ratings to support that? I don't think there is a solution so it's either going to continue being a sham of a game or they will eventually do away with it and replace it with some thing else.

I just hope he doesn't get hurt in such a stupid, meaningless "game". Other then that, who really cares about the popularity contest game that is the pro bowl. Sure, the players might care a tiny bit, because they get an extra pay check, but that's literally it.

True. Hey! Remember when Osgood jumped from the window of an Arlington apartment for fear of getting shot?

Is it just me or does the number of Pro Bowls affect a player's chances of being inducted in the HOF? Reporters always note how many times he was a Pro Bowler: 13 for Anthony Munoz, for example. It is like the NFL uses that as a factor if the player earned those trips to Hawaii.

Since the pro bowl began in 1951, is there anyone in the hall of fame that never went to a pro bowl? Probably not...
