the _____________ Raiders

Today, they are talking about Las Vegas. Couple weeks ago, San Antonio. Couple weeks before that, Los Angeles. San Diego also mentioned as a possibility, if the Chargers go to LA. Would be odd to see an NFL team in Vegas, the gambling capital of the world.

It seems unlikely that Roger Goodell and co. would approve the Raiders or any NFL team to move to Las Vegas.

I don't think the Raiders are going to move until they know the future of the Chargers.   If the Chargers decide to stay in San Diego,  the most likely outcome is the Raiders will become the 2nd team in Los Angeles  ( Inglewood ).    If the Chargers officially move to Inglewood and a stadium deal isn't worked out in the Oakland area,   I think the most likely outcome is the Chargers will end up in San Diego.    As part of the LA relocation application process approval,  the 3 teams that applied to move to LA gave up the rights in their home markets if they moved to LA.   This is part of the dilemma that Chargers owner Dean Spanos is now dealing with.   Whether he stays in San Diego or moves to Los Angeles,  competition for not only the Rams but the Raiders as well seems likely.

Interesting thoughts D6. I know there has to be plenty of diehard Charger fans in San Diego that hate the raiders, but I think it would certainly be interesting to see how the fans react. I think the nfl is going to one day regret putting 4 teams in California, especially if they keep shuffling teams between Oakland, SD, and LA.

The only thing I read about the Raiders possibly moving to San Diego if the Chargers move to Los Angeles is if that happens, Philip Rivers will vomit.

Treestone Ice,  there's indeed no question that there's a large number of Chargers fans in San Diego that hate the Raiders.   Yet,  there's also a large following for the Raiders in Southern California.  This is very likely because of the 13 seasons the Raiders played in Los Angeles.    At Chargers home games,   there are always plenty of Raiders fans in the house.    When combining the Raiders following in Southern California with bitterness a high % of Chargers fans have with team owner Dean Spanos,    I think that many current Chargers fans will become Raiders fans if the team moves to San Diego.

The lack of stability of NFL teams in California certainly jumps out.   The 49ers are the only California NFL team that has always had it's roots in their current home market.   Even with the 49ers,  there are some people from San Francisco that are really ticked off that the team moved south to Santa Clara.    The latter is much closer to San Jose than to SF.

Though California has the population to support 4 NFL teams,   winning is going to be a very important component for the teams to receive support.   In Los Angeles,  eventually winning probably won't be enough because of all of the other entertainment options.    Winning AND being entertaining will likely be necessary for LA NFL teams to get large support once the novelty of having NFL football again and the Inglewood Stadium wears out.

Good point about the 49ers. Every time I read an article about Super Bowl 50, I think, "Santa Clara, not San Francisco." It is so annoying to see an article start with the wrong city name.

In addition to the location of the 49ers relatively new stadium,  two other complaints that I heard is the heat/ sun impact in the stands early in the season is much greater than it was at Candlestick Park and that the leg room of at least many of the seats is far less than compared to other modern venues.   Between what has transpired with the 49ers in the last couple of seasons and the stadium issues,  the popularity of 49ers current ownership seems very low.

It's against the CoC to evade the filter that way, you should always type out "the [BAD WORD REMOVED] Raiders" when referring to that team.

I don't see any circumstance in which the Raiders end up in San Diego. It's pretty clear that the NFL wants the Chargers in LA, and I really don't think they'd allow the Raiders to move to San Diego for a couple of reasons. One, SoCal can't support three teams. It may not even be able to support two in LA and zero in San Diego. Two, there is a huge base of Raider fans in LA. If the Raiders end up down the coast, those may skip the whole "becoming a Rams/Chargers fan" experience and take their business a very manageable 90 miles down the coast instead.

San Diego is a nice bit of leverage for the Raiders, but I still think this ends up one of two ways for them: new stadium in Oakland, or a move to San Antonio.

IMO, "The Raiders" is perfectly fine.

Then they could move anywhere, anytime and still be "The Raiders."

One thing is for sure...............Las Vegas would be a hard city to compete against for future Super Bowls with an NFL team located there.

There would be virtually no logistic problems for anyone much like the nightmares we had here in Jacksonville.

As far as the Raiders going to San Diego that would be hard to fathom as that is one heck of a rivilary the Charges and Raiders have and it is not a friendly one!

How come the Chargers are being granted 300 million to help with a stadium and the Raiders arn't,is it to keep the chargers out of Inglewood or am I getting it wrong.

If the Chargers do indeed move to LA come 2017(as they said they will stay in SD come 2016) then the Raiders will make SD their new home. I feel this is the most likely situation out of all the moving pieces aspects.

Of course an easier route or more simple is the fact that come June(I believe it was June?) meeting in SD could make the Chargers stay in SD for years to come if they approve their new stadium plans. Which now that would eliminate the Chargers from the LA aspect and give the Raiders their chance to  move to LA which is the place Davis wants to be the most.

Does the NFL want Davis in LA? To a point it feels like they don't, but they also don't want Mark pulling an Al and going over their heads so they may as well allow the raiders to move back to LA. So all of this still is muddy, of course the Raiders may get what they "want" in Oakland but that is more off than the other situations.

The Raiders have been the harder team to work with as they have brought up San Antonio, San Diego, LAs Vegas, LA, St Louis and even Santa Clara, trying to force Oakland to give them a new stadium....

What sucks is I dont believe we will learn much more for awhile longer, I believe SD has a meeting in June and then who knows about Oakland attempting anything to please Davis/NFL.

The nfl just released a statement about Las Vegas. Pretty much says, no city is off limits, but still have to get other owners votes first, just like LA.

Also I would move to Vegas if I was Davis. The Sands is going to build that 1 billion dollar stadium anyway with private funds. No money needed from Raiders or NFL or Vegas. Sounds like a good deal.

The Chargers announced they will stay in San Diego next season and continue to find a solution for their stadium issues. That was 100% their decision.
