Senior Bowl players of special interest

Quote:I don't care where we get him, obviously you want to keep value under consideration, but I want spence on the team.

Watched all 3 of his game tape on draft breakdown last night..

Valparaiso - Completely destroyed them.

NC State - Started the game with a sack, which led to NC State double teaming or chipping him almost the ENTIRE game. Basically stop Spence and you have nothing else to worry about..

Kentucky - Made a couple plays early, then a sack and a half mid game, which also led to Kentucky double teaming and chipping him. Same theory.. Stop Spence and you win.

Now he is here at the Senior Bowl impressing everybody with his talent and interviews. Getting compared to guys like Khalil Mack and Von Miller and is basically the same size as Dante Fowler.

I'm all for Spence at 5 at the moment.

I read that he's bombing his interviews but his talent is too much to pass on at a certain point.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Really? Interesting I have seen the opposite. Not a good sign if you're right though!

Spence top 5?  Is he even going first round?

Most likely.

I don't think he goes top 5, but I would almost guarantee he goes closer to our pick at 5 than he does our pick at 38.

Tony Pauline said he was impressing teams in interviews before the practices started on Monday, but since then everything I saw said he wasn't coming off very well. Who really knows, probably some of both.

I would just love to see Fowler and Spence rotating/playing together. Talk about putting stress on the QB. Add in a Sen'Derrick Marks, Jared Odrick, Olivier Vernon... Boom. Pass rush all day!

Maybe he was so good in practice teams are trying to spread that he is doing bad in interviews to scare other teams so he can fall to them

How about he is actually doing bad in interviews? That is more likely.

Yea because teams always tell the truth during draft season

That's what I'm thinking also.

It is obviously way too early to estimate how far Noah Spence's stock will drop because of bad interviews. For all we know he could have interviewed well with a couple teams and stunk it up with others. I will take a wait-and-see approach as long as teams ask him about his drug problems.

This is why I was soooo glad when I found out he would be in Gus' team. Bosa and Ramsey aside, he was the next player that I thought was intriguing obviously because of his past but also his possible fit here as a pass rusher. Gus and Dave better do their due diligence, watch him like a hawk, and if they feel the character concerns are done and over with...take him (assuming Bosa/Ramsey gone, IMO, who are still ahead in my book)

I bet we'll be able to get him or a player of his caliber in round 2.

Cmon Reg!

I guess you can look at it two ways:

*he clearly doesn't have a developed body so he didn't spend time working on it (lazy?)

*He was already showing quick feet and good mobility for his size. Imagine if he is actually in shape.

If he is there at our pick in round 2 we have to take him.... maybe even trade up in the mid 20s from the 2nd.

Ramsey in the first and then Rankins next?

Add in a LB in the 3rd or an edge guy.

Coupled with a good (we hope) FA season....

If we sign a FS in FA... maybe we can do some moving and really maximize our defensive additions in this draft. A lot of talent in the top 3 rounds. I'd be OK with using 5 picks to make 3 selections in the top 3 rounds. (Trading up, down, and around) Especially if it nets us 3 starters. Add in 2 starters from FA and we have a whole new D.
