TEALCURTAIN, I don't deny I have no great respect for Yeldon because he is not an exciting player that can make things happen. Hating? I don't hate or care enough to hate.

He is an average back. When not hurt.

Actually Denard is a better runner, unfortunately he has butterfingers which is unacceptable.

 

But you disregard everything else I write, that he is average but average is alright. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? You don't need a superstar back dominating any longer. Look at A. Peterson or Chris Johnson, back when they were dominating, their teams were not winning super bowls because it's still a passing league.

So the position is just not that valuable as it once was, therefore an average back that can block and get 70 yards a game, and sometimes 100 is fine for the Jags.

I promise I don't hate TJ, I don't even know the man.

Denard Robinson was OK in 2014 and parts of 2015. Then the fumbling issues came back in December. Should we say he is inconsistent?

I think people don't give Yeldon enough credit actually, especially within our fan base.


There were times/moments where Yeldon played like a beast. Breaking tackles to even get back to the line of scrimmage, stiff arms, extra yards, receiving, blocking, slipping tackles, and NOT FUMBLING.


I honesty give him an A for the season. Of course he had mistakes and rookie moments, and only scored twice, etc., but I saw a lot of potential. I can imagine him only getting better and as stated above, join the top 10 in NFL backs. Next year we will see Bortles TDs go slightly down, but we will also see Yeldons TDs go up.

Ya know... if all NFL players were judged based on effort they would all get A+ grades most of the time. Such is the case with Yeldon; no one doubts his effort. But here's the thing; it's a production based league. Based on actual production, I don't see that Yeldon was really 'all that'. He may be the best we've got here statistically, but is that really saying all that much for him? I think not. He's stuck behind a really poor run blocking line and that's not his fault; but, that's the fortunes of the NFL. It's about production, not excuses.

I'm thinking just the opposite. TJ nearly had 1000 yards as a rookie, and most of those yards he made himself.

I don't worry about others takes on Yeldon.  He had 4.1 yards per carry behind a struggling line and showed me some real potential. 

 

I think he'll do very well behind an improved line - and that's where I'm focused this offseason.  Not on Yeldon, but what's going to happen on the interior of that line.  

If the center position is upgraded  (Cann, a FA, a third round pick, whatever)  then Yeldon ought to really be able to run behind the right side of that line.

if Dave truly compares acquiring your FS to getting ur franchise QB, well then... U already know

a little education, the Qb is the leader of the offensive for several important reasons including he touches the ball on every play and shold have the best vision of the field in front of him

 

This same philosophy is what Dave is talking about, the FS should be the defensive field general..  with the most vision and awareness and is often very much more athletic than a QB.. do you need the best FS in the league no,... but it is extremely tough to find tier 1 FS because people with that size strength awareness vision and athleticism is hard, these players usually migrate towards offense for the bigger paycheck. I agree with Dave about 95%
