Can we now say that Peyton Manning is the GOAT among QB's?

I think the debate is over. He, along with Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Reggie White, Walter Payton, Joe Montana, and Tom Brady, are on the Mount Rushmore of the NFL for me.

his stat line tonight says no.  The guy won both his superbowls playing like crap with a quality defense and running game.  GOAT?  no not even top 5 at his position, he was just in the era that favored his style of play more than any other qb in the history of the nfl.

Go Jags!

2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice

Brady..... Rings over individual honors as a QB all day.

Not including the one time flings (Brad Johnson and Dilfer....) but Brady has got stats and rings to back it up.

Manning is great no doubt but not the best.

Yes. This is true; but for historical record, he will go down as one of the GOATs. His career stats are simply undeniable. Frankly, guys like Elway, Montana, and Marino played like crap down the line but they still got into the HOF and are in that discussion.

Unitas

Montana

Elway

Manning

Brady

These rank as the top 5 modern day quarterbacks. It's always fun to debate who was the greatest and there are solid arguments to support each of them. My favorite was Unitas due to his toughness and leadership. Manning had some poor playoff games during his career and this is the only knock on him. He still deserves to be in the top 5.

I can't put Manning over Marino or Favre.  Neither of those guys had the rule changes supporting their careers Manning was given.

Unitas isn't "modern day". And no way is Peyton ahead of Brady.

If I had to pic a QB to win a championship I would pick Brady.Still I have a healthy respect for Manning he is 100% only of the best of all time.

Hes undoubtedly one of the best, but he wasnt the best on his own era. 6-11 against the guy with 4 rings.

Hes on the mountain, just not the top.

One thing that's near certain is Tom Brady never had a Defense that was on or above the level of the 2015 Broncos Defense.

Does every QB going forward get penalized for the way the game has changed?

As much as I don't like Brady, I think the rings win. Manning was one of the greats no doubt. Hope to see him get into coaching (if he's even interested in that)

I don't care about stats as much as I trust my own eyeballs.   And my eyeball test says Tom Brady is the best of all time.   The reason is, when the pressure is greatest, when the game and the season are on the line, you cannot stop that guy.

If I started a team and had my choice of qb's at the start of their careers between Brady and Manning I take Brady every single time.  Manning is more than welcome to put up the stats all he wants during the season, but I will take Brady to win Super Bowls.  Brady has a fire that Manning doesn't.....he's won when the pieces around him weren't very good.  Manning had really really good offensive players throughout his career.
