Jalen Ramsey

Quote:A lot of people seem to think his physicality would better suit him as an in-the-box safety, but I am intrigued at the thought of using him how Seattle does with Earl Thomas. His biggest concern coming into this season was his coverage skills, but he looked pretty good the few games he played this year (5 pick in only a few games).

The thought of this guy laying the wood (seriously one of the hardest hitters I've seen come out in a long time) and getting interceptions from the center-fielder spot is intriguing.

For the record, I am terrible at evaluating deep safeties. I thought Cody Prewitt was going to be a stud...

I think his biggest concern would be prone to injury because of the way he plays.

Besides that, I think he's going to be a leader for any defense he's on.

He would have had 6-7 picks this year if not for drops.

Quote:Tanner McEvoy had 6 last year at Wisconsin after playing primarily QB the previous years.

WOW - that guy stunk at QB.

Quote:All I see is Ramsey Ramsey Ramsey Ramsey, but nobody has backed it up yet as to why? Is it because he is projected high so people just assume he's the pick? Is it because he has a cool name (TMD school of drafting). Is it because FSU?

He stands out athletically, he has fire to his game, he has measurables you want to see, but the lack of production and game tape is really concerning to me for drafting him at 5. Someone convince me he's the guy, please, because we do need a FS almost as bad as we need DLine.

Like I said before Elite athlete but don't see anything that says Elite FS. In fact, I'm not even sure why he is being presumed to be an NFL FS.

This is the fear I have about Ramsey. Everybody knows he's going to test great physically but him as a FS is a question mark. The only thing I can say is that if the Jags draft him to play FS it will be because they do their research and fully believe he can and will do it. If that's the case I will trust Caldwell until Ramsey either performs well or flops.

The full game is on youtube. It's not cut up so it will take longer to find everything you need but it's all there.

Some highlights here. He gets beat a lot. I'm not impressed by his coverage skills. The first play isn't even a highlight.

I think he could play CB,FS,SS and Buchanons "Moneybacker" position all very well in the NFL if he gets enough time to stick at the position.

Still not sure if I'd pick him though.

http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2015/12...ing-report

No ball skills - In 2015, Ramsey has grabbed no interceptions. In his 3-year career at Florida State he has only 3 interceptions total, despite playing in 40 games at the time of this scouting report. He is able to get his hands on the ball at times, but cannot catch for whatever reason, something the Ravens already have difficulty with as is.

Slow to react - This could tie into his inconsistent aggression, but in reviewing game film, Ramsey can be slow to react to moves by the wide receiver, especially comeback routes. It allows faster and quicker wide receivers to get a few steps on him as a corner and move the chains or find open field on crossing routes.

I would agree with most of that.Don't agree with the statement in that article that says "he shows a lack of heart".

"That isn't to say that he is bad by any means, but he is still raw and shows a lack of heart that worries me if I'm a general manager with a high first-round pick."

Yep not sure how anyone could question that about Ramsey. Suppose the writer is just trying to hammer home that he thinks he's overated.

By the way Ramsey just competed in the Skills Competition challenge and it looks like he's been working on his hands. I'm on mobile and can't post up the link but man that dude has an attitude I can get behind.

Yeah I'm not the biggest Ransey fan, but lack of heart is wayyyyyy off.

or he's hoping other GMs read his garbage review and think he's serious so they pass on him while the Ravens snag him up.

Hr also said Ramsey didn't play against any quality QBs this year, I guess he has a low opinion of DeShuan Watson too.

Quote:Report: Jalen Ramsey No. 1 on Cowboys board

Jalen Ramsey | CLG

(February 10, 2016 8:49 PM EST)

NFL draft insider Tony Pauline reports Florida State DB Jalen Ramsey is the No. 1 overall player on the Cowboys' draft board.

The Cowboys have draft-board leaks seemingly every offseason. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds by the Seminoles, 21-year-old Ramsey profiles similarly to Antrel Rolle as a corner-safety hybrid with an affinity for run support. The Cowboys draft at No. 4 overall and have a legitimate chance at Ramsey, though he will also intrigue the Titans at 1, Browns at 2, and Chargers at 3.
