What you been feeding that thing?

 

Hell man I only got 10k miles on it. bought it with 105k it sits at 115k now, it's a Toyota those things are usually bulletproof. My only guess is who ever had it before wasn't doing the oil change every 5k or they where using the cheap oil instead of the blended stuff. I was doing the second oil change when I pulled the dipstick and to my horror found metal all up the stick. So I dropped the pan and sure enough, metal in the oil pan. Closed her up, topped her off, trading it in today before it becomes my problem.

It looks like the last owner saw the same thing and also traded it in before it became a bigger problem for him. You think it was from bad oil changes, like using cheap oil or not doing them every 5K miles?

 

I'm guessing you have had it less then a year since you only put 10K miles on it.

 

You are right about the usually bullet proof reputation on Toyota trucks though. I know a few owners of them, including me, and they are great trucks, especially if you do the regular maintenance on them.
