Deforest Buckner Impressions?
|
I'm not big on him for our team at all. He'd be a 5-tech here and investing a high pick into that position, especially with Odrick, doesn't make sense.

The comparison I keep seeing is Calais Campbell.
That's not necessarily a bad thing. Especially if he can learn to play lower. Then he could be something more.
"You do your own thing in your own time. You should be proud."
Enter Mike Mayock with an opinion:
"He can play up and down the defensive line of scrimmage. He's nasty, he's tough, he's powerful. He's got a little Reggie White hump move that's friggin' awesome. Eight to 10 years from now, I think he'll be one of the guys we'll be looking back at that will be in the conversation as the best defensive player to come out of this draft," Mayock said." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...2016-draft
Quote:Enter Mike Mayock with an opinion: I normally like what Mayock has to say, but that evaluation is gross, IMO.
Shock the world

Let's just give the Mayock love the Winston Wolf treatment here for a minute folks. Mayock has, in my opinion, a narrow view of players and has his fair share of misses as well. He's just as susceptible to being wrong on a guy as anyone else.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

At the very least, it should cause some of us, myself included, to re-open our minds on Buckner and give him another look. Quote:It's an opinion. I'm just trying to point out that he, like everyone else who has evaluated players, has missed in the past and will most likely miss again. He's a good analyst, but his word isn't gospel.

Seems like Mayock has less time now days as he is more involved with NFL Network. Either way, he brings good info. I think he's better at analyzing defensive prospects, particularly Safeties/DBs, than anything on offense.
