Myles Jack (like Adrian Peterson) is showing "freakish" recover ability

I really feel like he would make his presence known as an interior, "Green Dog" is the term I think, blitzer.

I think he would.  It's essentially a delayed LB blitz shooting a gap, right?

They actually did this with Telvin and Skuta a few times last year. When they were lined up with TE coverage responsibility and the TE stayed in to block a lineman, the LB would become the "green dog" and break to the passer.

Of course - there is usually a guard there to pick him up, but because of that beat of delay, the guard often won't react quickly enough and gets caught helping the guy next to them.

Since the guy was Pac-10 freshman player of the year at BOTH linebacker and running back, I think he can rush the passer if given the assignment.

He had opportunities and got ONE career sack. Jack himself said that pass rushing is the one thing he really needs to work on to take his game to another level. He may be good at blitzing through gaps, but I don't think he will ever be a true pass rusher. Would not surprise me if his sack numbers look pretty similar to Luke Kuechly's NFL sack numbers.

If he turns out to be anything like Luke Keuchly I think I could live with that.

Although he feels great and actually is on track with the healing process I hope he does take his time since he went with the repair route on a meniscus as opposed to a traditional trimming/excision. All in all its a relatively minor injury, just hope he heals that baby up.

That's the scenario I'm imagining him in. So if you're the offense, do you send the TE out just to stop Jack from blitzing or do you risk having him in coverage and sniping a pass? I'm really getting hooked on the idea of him playing here.

Once again. 225. Can he play Mike or OTTO at that weight?

Where are you getting 225 from? His draft profile has him listed at 245. I would play him at OTTO as a starter and Mike on 3rd down as he learns the ropes them move him over to Mike full time come next year.

He's 225 right now, in his early 20's. I feel confident that he's not going to stay at that weight throughout his career.

But that's just me.

Quote:225? Idk man. I know he's recovering from injury but dang that's pretty light.

He's listed at 245 everywhere else - typo?

I didn't know trainers employed by teams could supervise the recovery of college players.

The idea being floated is that he plays MLB on third downs and distance passing downs.  To me -  doing that with the thought of him bulking up over time to take over full time Mike when he's ready does make some sense. And it would also help the team in coverage in the short term.

Doesn't Kuechly play at 235?  I think Jack can get to that weight in short order when he's 100% healthy and hitting the gym.

I don't get why people are so in love with Jack. I like him, but at 5? I know stats aren't the most important thing, but everyone is having a fit that Ramsey only had 3 interceptions, but Jack only has 4 and he is a coverage specialist. I don''t really see where he fits, seems almost like a luxury at 5 for a team like us with so many needs. Even assuming he can make the change to MLB and thrive, do you want to draft a MLB at 5? What's the history on top 10 MLB's in the recent past? Keep in mind, I like him a lot, I just don't know about a 4-3 linebacker at 5 overall.

Arizona Cardinals physical therapist Brett Fischer is overseeing the recovery of UCLA LB Myles Jack (knee) and said, "He's way above track in his rehab."

"When I gave [Jack's] stats to the doctor, he couldn’t believe it. The leg that Myles had surgery on is bigger than the one that didn’t, which is unheard of," Fischer said. The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder won't be a full participant in the combine in Indianapolis, but he'll perform whatever drills he misses on March 15. Jack's currently working his way back from a torn meniscus of his right knee suffered in practice on September 23. While injury recovery is never certain, Jack's a probable Top-15 selection in this spring's draft. <span style="color:rgb(204,0,0);"><span style="background-color:transparent;">Feb 21 - 4:44 PM

The OP is where I got the 225 from.
