We should just put everyone in. From RJ Soward to Boselli

Leon Searcy was just on 1010 XL and said Boselli was the best left tackle he has ever seen and it upsets him that Boselli isn't at least further along in the talks to make the hall of fame.  Leon Searcy on his own is a pretty amazing left tackle, and for him to pay a complement like that to Boselli is pretty special.  I get the longevity thing, but there are extenuating circumstances.  Jim Brown didn't play in the NFL long either.

 

Jim Brown played 9 years in a position that is not considered durable.

 

Boselli played 6 years in a position that is considered very durable and the expectations are for OL players to play 10-12 years.  Both Ogden and Pace played the equivalent of 11 years in the NFL.

 

If someone were to offer me Boselli for 6 years or Ogden or Pace for 11 years, I'd take Ogden or Pace for 11 seasons.

 

Kam Chancellor just finished his 6th season.  If he ends his career today, does he go to the HOF?  

 

Does Tyron Smith go in after this season, his 6th year as the most dominant OT?

Agree.    Not only that, but in comparison with the rest of the DBs in the league, he wasn't even elite.  As I pointed out a few days ago, Terrance Newman was a better DB for the Cowboys (with 40 ints) but he wouldn't even be a blip in their consideration for their ring of honor.   

 

Bottom Line:  Just because we suck so bad doesn't mean we should make a mockery of this elite honor.

Jimmy and MJD first. Rashean was a great player, but was he ever considered one of the main faces of the franchise? Not even close.

You would have to think with Maurice Jones-Drew playing great at different roles including the media spokesman for the team that he would have to be of special consideration for the Pride.

I think they need to cool it off for a long while.  Let it sit.

 

At least until we have another player that's a no-argument/no-brainer.

 

We can hope Bortles will be that guy, maybe Robinson.

 

But that would be a LONG time from now.

 

If any of the others still seem relevant then, sure.  But I'd be in no rush to make any changes anytime soon.  We just don't have a long enough history (or history of success) to start filling it up with names.

Mathis was good plus he's a local boy but the Pride? Not even close.

Helluva cover corner and arguably the best defender in Jaguars history. It's unarguable that he was the best at his position in franchise history. Mathis was always humble and gave back to his community. With his retirement I thought it might be worthwhile to look back at his tenure here. I'll never forget his games against the Steelers.
