Joey Bosa

Quote:Bosa is not the perfect DE and he may be overhyped which is why I think he falls to the Jags at Pick 5 and the Jags will be happy to take him there. I've heard the Greg Hardy comparison from a few analysts and I think it's a pretty good one. Both Bosa and Hardy are bigger 4-3 DEs (about 280 lbs), they each have a powerful bullrush coupled with good burst to work the edge, and each of them are very physical at the line and play with heavy hands. Obviously there a big difference in their intangibles and displaying a consistent effort, both of which favor Bosa. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
He has no fire coming off the line. Is he a beast yes. But launching like a missle he doesnt.

Is Bosa the Tim Duncan of the NFL? The big fundamental. The personality of a rock and but just gets it done with technique and fundamentals?

4.86 and 5 sacks his senior season? IF Fowler was in this draft teams would be talking about trading up to get him.

Quote:4.86 and 5 sacks his senior season? IF Fowler was in this draft teams would be talking about trading up to get him.Bosa was taller and heavier and whipped Dante in the agility/explosion drills that matter for DE...broad jump, 3 cone, and shuttle. 40 yard dash really means nothing, sorry. For comparison, Bosa is a 70th percentile SPARQ athlete despite underwhelming in the 40 yard that doesn't matter...so he's really like 90th percentile in what matters. Dante is a 30th percentile SPARQ athlete despite impressing in the 40 yard that doesn't matter...so he's really like a 20th percentile in what matters. The 40 may not be that important for linemen but the 10 split is. Fowler's was very good and Bosa's was meh. Fowler is more explosive and flexible on tape than his drills show, his 10 split backs that up. Fowler would be a more desirable prospect because he has a better motor, better length, is faster, and is more versatile. Bosa is better against the run coming at him and is a stronger pass rusher but other than that Fowler has him in everything else. You're putting too much stock in combine numbers and force player. On my grading scale Fowler grades out as the better overall player (slightly) and I think that would be most teams' opinions. "A man with no sauce is lost.

Not sure how Fowler is longer either, Fowler's arms are 3/8 of an inch longer but he's two inches shorter...Bosa is bigger, stronger, more explosive, and more agile. He also has far more production, as evidenced by his 3rd in the NCAA 70 pressures this seasons despite missing a game (Fowler had a comparatively meager 46). Bosa led the country in PRP last year and was 2nd this year, while also grading highest in the country against the run. We already knew he was a very, very good player before he surprised everyone with the drills today so I'm really clueless as to why you stated that this was somehow swayed by today.
People said he could play linebacker in a 3-4. I don't see it. Hes an LDE or a 5 technique imo.

How did he look his first season?Started off slow after being thrust into the teams primary pass rusher role from day 1, but picked up steam all year and finished very well at a position that rookies historically struggle. Led all rookies in pressures, was among the entire NFL leaders in pressures in the 2nd half of the season, and pretty much took over the game in the huge week 16 upset of the undefeated Panthers. He's still gonna be a beast.

I was equally disappointed in both the 40 yard dash times for both Bosa and Spence. Yes, football, especially at the DE position, is not a 40 yard dash sport. However, it is a tool to measure athleticism. I do think both will be solid pros, but if you are looking for 'elite', the odds may have just gotten a little longer.

Vert jump, long jump, 10 yard split all very average for both players. Those metrics are usually good indicators of elite players.
Best case scenario?
Sign Gipson and Malik. Draft Jack/Bosa then Ogbah/Nkemdiche. The Dline would have studs who can rotate in and it would be insurance for Mark.s |
