Quote:I really don't want Sweezy. He's got Beadles 2.0 written all over him.

Agreed. I think Sweezy is a little nastier, but that's about it.

Quote:Not sure I agree with that. Mario Williams, Charles Johnson, etc. are already going to their 2nd visit here shortly after checking out somewhere. Irvin seems to have two other very strong suitors in ARZ and ATL.
Mario Williams and Charles Johnson were just cut and older coming off down years, different situations they are trying to squeeze money out of teams, Irvin is a UFA and younger

They are not free agents though. They are aging vets that were cut by their teams so it makes sense they would visit a few teams since it is their last chance to get paid.

Still not sure I agree regardless. Mario Williams and Charles Johnson are UFA's too, they just are older and got to the market differently.

If a team is offering a player more money by a decent margin and the player definitely wants to play there than yeah, but if the money is similar and the player is open to multiple teams I'm sure as heck he'd visit all the teams before he signs.

How is Mario Williams and Charles Johnson not Free Agents? Just because they got to the market differently doesn't mean they can't go and sign on their first visit.

Still doesn't prove that just because a player goes on a visit somewhere he is likely signing with that team. I'll be happy as hell if we land Irvin and he is really coming here first on Wednesday, but I don't know why we should be popping the champagne and acting like it's a foregone conclusion it's done either...especially with ARZ making a strong push and ATL having major interest.

Lane isn't the worst, but we could do better. He should be "round 2" of free agency.

I'm guessing it was said on whatever show McShay was on about 30 minutes ago. If anyone can rewind whatever show was on ESPN it would've been said in the last 10 minutes of the program.

Quote:IDK about Beadles, but he definitely isn't "good". From what I gather, he's a very solid run blocker but his pass blocking leaves a TON to be desired. The Seahawks line is terrible, and he was part of that

I have a buddy whose a Seahawks fan and he could care less if Sweezy or Okung returns...certainly doesn't excite me. Unfortunately, there isn't a ton of guards/centers on market that are very good, and if we don't want to pay 10M+ for a guy like Osemele, but we want a veteran in there with Joeckel and Cann/Linder, than we're going to have to settle for an average at best guy.

Like I said, I'd much prefer Allen, but there seems to be a lot of smoke around Sweezy...
I'm intrigued, how much less could your Seahawks buddy care?

Would be a nice upgrade from Gratz

Lane is better than nobody. Def won't break the bank. Not that anyone could.

I fear, this is the type of players we target.

@Rand_Getlin In addition to the #Raiders, I'm told the #Vikings are surging for OG Kelechi Osemele. Expect his deal to land well in excess of $10M per.

I know Irvin is a fast and solid player, especially in the scheme that the Jag's operate, and would be a good acquisition in free agency.  However, likely paying him around $10m per year for what he has averaged over the past 4 seasons, 33 combined tackles and 5.5 sacks, seems high.  If they do get him, I wonder if they would plan to send him after the QB more than the Seahawks?

He also has 4 sacks in the playoffs.

He also has 3 INTs and has scored two defensive touchdowns.

Under gus he had 8 sacks. I think he was used more as a LEO with Gus.

I think their plan would be to have fowler the Leo and irvin behind him as the OTTO, But change and move them around and have each of them rush from multiple spots.

Should we ask GUS?

The cap goes up every year guy. Just look what the bum players got last offseason.
