Quote:I never followed the story or really cared to, but I do not see how the hotel is liable. Unless I have the facts I have heard wrong, is a hotel expected to inspect it's peep holes between every guest stay? What's next? Scanning the room for electronic bugs? Heck, they don't even wash the comforters after every stay. What do you expect?

I think for people staying at a hotel they should expect to not have their room number given out to anyone, especially for celebrities.  Not only did they give her name out, but they let the guy choose a room right next to hers.

Edit:  It seems like all this was done by one employee....employed by the hotel.

Apparently a hotel clerk not only confirmed Erin Andrews as a guest in the hotel, but gave the creep the room next to hers. The hotel absolutely shares liability.

She'll never see anything close to $55 million. The stalker is in his mid-50s with few prospects, and the hotel will likely appeal and negotiate a settlement.

Quote:If this happened to an every day person who isn't on TV, would they have gotten the same payout? Probably not.

That's the point.  The bigger the public figure, the higher the damage done to reputation and image.
