Quote:Gipson is going to negotiate with us to drive his price up and sign a deal with an actual football team. Why escape the Browns and then go sign with Browns South? Makes no sense.
I'm sorry, but it just needs to be said, you come off as incredibly pathetic. Take your fandom somewhere else.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Very glad Dave went after Vern.. Even happier that he didn't pull the trigger after seeing those final numbers..

Quote:Oh my lord dude. If you're serious than you are so [BAD WORD REMOVED] wrong.

Vernon had a whopping 7.5 sacks last year as an edge rusher, whose job is to get sacks. That is underwhelming as [BAD WORD REMOVED].

So that new contract is for more then $10M a sack since it is for $85M?

Yikes!!!!!!! that is some serious $$$$$$$$$.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Vernon is getting 85M over 5 years with more guaranteed. Malik is getting 85 over 6 years with less guaranteed.

Gimme Malik all day. Vernon's primary role is to rush the passer and he barely had better production in the pressures/sacks category.

<p class="">This Vernon deal is the biggest for a DE in all categories: most overall gtd, most full gtd, highest average, payouts in years 1-3.

The Jets bid on him too.

This hasn't been one of the better 24 hours for the Jets and their fans.

Vernon isn't worthy of such a contract.

No, this 85M is spread out over 5 years. But yeah, his production doesn't fit that type money. I was fine overpaying, but not top DE type money that he just got. 14-15M per was good with me with less guaranteed.

That's Mario Williams last contract minus all the sacks to justify it. Better produce kid.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Five years, $85 million for Olivier Vernon with the Giants. The Jaguars were right there, money wise. Giants sold it.

We offered him big bucks, players don't really want to come here over big markets when money is the same, it's the way it is. Look at Murray and Cobb last year.

Hopefully we use that money to go after the likes of Weddle/Gipson, Sean Smith, Robert Ayers.
