***Official 2016 Free Agency Thread***

Quote:Colvin would likely start there and move to nickel in certain situations.
We're in nickel a big majority of the time though, so a RCB is still a pretty big need.

Quote:Colvin is still an option. And free agency isn't over just yet.
Of course it's not over yet, I'm just looking ahead, with a lot of hypothetical. Which is a big part of this time of the year.

I left CB off of my 3 picks earlier, because I think we'll get one in FA still, but you could still make a case for needing 2 CBs.

I'd love if Ryan Kelly is still there in the 2nd round for us, because he's a plug and play Center from day 1. That's just it though, he's plug and play from day 1 lol. Those guys don't usually tend to sit around on the draft board for all that long.

Quote:Yep.
I echo this.

He was decent and maybe a bit above average for Cleveland last year. Most Browns fans didn't even want him back, especially if he wanted more money than he was going to get (8M), which he did.

All still available at CB. I don't think CB is as pressing a need as some of you but if the Jags believe it is then there are guys still available to fill it.

I disagree. If you take a look at the majority of the starting center's around the league, most of them were mid or late round picks. It's not as important a position as the other 4 spots are.

Bottem 3 are nickles to me, and we have a nickle in Colvin, Amukamara I dont really like for what kinda money he might get, wouldnt mind Smith, but I think we should draft a CB we got a FA CB last year lets get a stud in the draft now

Now Thurman would be a good number 4 CB but I doubt he gets paid like one

CB isn't a HUGE need but we definitely could use better depth there. I feel confident in Colvin and House with an improved pass rush, but Gratz sucks and McCray seems to be on his way out based on the way we used him last year.

Although we could use a stud CB, you aren't going to get everything done this offseason. If we can bolster the pass rush while having a secondary of House/Colvin/FA/Gipson/Sample or Cyp, that should be a very solid looking group. You gotta think for a second how solid House and Colvin played last year, especially when you factor in how AWFUL our pass rush was and how long we had to cover them for.

Colvin can play outside. I'd prefer him at nickel but that doesn't mean he can't do very well outside if given a half way decent pass rush and help over the top (Gipson). Those are pretty vital things for corners in this defense.

Patrick Robinson was a beast last year too for SD, after being a fairly big bust in New Orleans. I'd happily take him.

Yup, I always seem to forget about him.

There's a lot of options. Which ones fit? Not sure, but there's only so many landing spots for these guys. If we find a guy or two that we think fit this scheme really well, I like our chances.

Yea but I rather draft and develop a CB right now instead of chasing another FA CB, William Jackson in the 2nd would be nice

I'd also like William Jackson in the 2nd, hoping for Spence or Joseph but I don't think they will be available.

I'd be very surprised if WJIII makes it to our 2nd.

CB wouldn't be as pressing of a need, if we have a much improved pass rush, but Jackson can't do it all on his own. We still need some serious help there, as we all know.

I have faith in Dave, because he has been very good about letting the draft board play out and letting guys fall to us in the past. I see him doing the same this draft, but it's just a question of which position/s will it be this year.

Sign me up on William Jackson as well, but considering our big need for pass rush, interior OL, as well as LB, we need to get some CB help in FA now. I'd much rather know we have decent depth at CB now than go into the draft with nothing past House and Colvin.

Also let's not rule out Ramsey coming in as a CB.

I've been saying this the whole time. I'm not sure if anyone has been but they shouldn't. Ramsey is versatile as heck, he can even play some in the box safety.

Agreed, but I've always been a fan of Ramsey at Safety. Not as much at CB, but I know he's all kinds of versatile.

I'd rather have Bosa, or Jack, especially now that we've signed Gipson.

Well, if we don't get any more even half way decent pass rushers, I may agree with you on the Jack front since he could be a decent pass rusher in some situations. I like Bosa a good bit, but I like both Jack and Ramsey more without a doubt.

Jack's game isn't going to be rushing the passer though. He'll definitely provide some blitzing ability, but that's not what to expect from him.

Bosa would be the get, if you're looking for that pass rush first, out of those two.
