Quote:Smith as in Chris Smith?

Yep. That would be as close to the lightning package that we had so much success two years ago.

Quote:If we get Ayers I think he is LEO on passing downs and Fowler will be OTTO.

Ayers Malik Marks Odrick Fowler rushing at the same time is pretty nasty.

Yes goodness. Dont let Bosa fall to five... or Spence in the second....

That being said, I'm jaded by Vernon and Irvin so I'll just let this one play out

I'm not sure if it was mentioned earlier in this long thread but Lions UFA DE Jason Jones is scheduled to have a FA with Miami.   Jones won't be in Robert Ayers'  price range or close.  Yet,  he has plenty of versatility along the Defensive Line and intangibles the Dolphins can certainly use more of.    Considering the Dolphins cap situation,   the less expensive option probably makes more sense for them.

I went out earlier and missed some of DC's presser. I know they mentioned Anger not signing an offer, any indication why? It seems very strange.

Quote:They also gave Aaron Rodgers a -0.8 grade after throwing for 333 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs, and having a 138.5 passer rating against the Chiefs earlier this year. And they graded Blake Bortles out higher that week.

I don't even care about the grades. They are so much more info than a silly overall number.

For example: this charting for Ayers is very useful (and obviously not subjective) and none of us has even close to a picture this complete from just watching him during games.

He said he won't be "exclusively" at Otto. Not that he would never line up there

I'll need to find the quote but I recall Wash saying no to Fowler at OTTO completely

. He said he could be lined up there but it wouldn't be the Otto when he's there.

Why would fowler be otto on passing downs? Why not just rotate odrick whose main job is to stop the run out?

Things change when you get Malik, Ayers, a healthy Marks back. He also said he wanted him to be versatile and line up at a lot of spots. 3T is pretty well covered, NT makes no sense for him, and 5T will have Odrick with Ayers/Malik also getting time there if we land Ayers that is.

Yeah, this is the quote.

I took that to mean that if he's standing up, it'll essentially mean he's doing so as a blitzer not as a traditional OTTO.

Sanu's deal is 5 years, $32.5M ($14M guaranteed)? That's a crazy deal, more than Golden Tate is getting...

Darlington saying Ayers not a "done deal" and Ayers will still need to show he wants to play here. Jags not just going to throw $$ at him.

Well yeah, we aren't the only team needing an edge rusher. If we want him though and he likes the fit, we'll pay him. He got production last year. No reason to lowball him.

Really?

I thought he said they were looking to find different ways to use him and that was a possibility. When did you hear that?

Sure we don't want another Vernon attitude. But we all know we'll give him plenty of money.

I'm going to laugh so hard if we actually sign Ayers today/tonight though. If we do, Darlington is going to look so funny.

Was very optimistic we would get Irvin and Vernon, now telling us to pump the brakes a bit on Ayers...and who would we end up with?

He's mostly saying that because of what happened with the other two.
