Do you expect Bortles to take it up a notch again?
|
Yes. Absolutely. His jump from his rookie year, which the front office didn't want him to play in to begin with, compared to his 2nd year was insane. If the pass protection improves. And if Ivory and Yeldon can become a 1-2 punch this team needs. He's going to cut back on his turnovers considerably. What we really need on offense this year is a healthy Julius Thomas and Marqise Lee going into the 2016 season. Those two guys are critical to our wins this year. If Lee can emerge into the slot receiver and relief receiver we need for the AA team and if Julius can continue his development with Bortles. I wouldn't be shocked to see him crack 40+ TD passes this year. And I honestly mean that too if this defense decides to show up this year and create some turnovers.

I expect BB and the WRs to get even better at hooking up for big chunk plays. We don't want this part to go away; it's very hard to defend; ask Reevis.
I expect Bortles to improve his completion percentage and cut down on Interceptions. The pick 6 especially need to go. I'd like to see him run more then he did last season but not as much as his rookie campaign. I expect more from JT and Green as receivers too.

Quote:No reason to think Bortles won't make progress. I couldn't agree more with this above!!
LOVE THEM JAGUARS!
Give Him some time in the pocket and he will cut up the defense! Two years he has been under undo pressure and still used his feet and arm to throw over 4000 yards and 35 TD"s. He will explode behind a good offensive line. you can quote me on that one. From day one I predicted Branch was going to be a bust and If Bosa is available at five and we don't draft him it will be a very big mistake. He is the real deal.
My gosh look at what he was able to do being rushed as he was in 2015.
Just the fact that the O-Line should be much better....several things will happen. BB5 will have that precious extra second or two to determine his play, the line will open better running lanes and our receivers should be better at getting open. So yes, BB5 just has to keep doing what he's been doing and everything will get better.
Because Jaguars is our mantra

I'm hoping so. If he takes it up a notch he'll be in or darn near close to that elite category.
A more intense running game will def help.

Blake from the day he was drafted used the off season to improve his game by attending a QB camp after talking to quarterbacks around the league to learn what he need to do to become an elite quarterback. He picked their brains on how to prepare for games and train to improve his game. Early on the talking heads kept comparing him to Big Ben, but I always felt he was more like Brett Favre. I was not surprised when asked during an interview who was the quarterback he looked up to growing up, You guessed it Favre! I think most will agree he plays like Brett lots of touchdowns and interceptions. I really believe with a little Oline help he will continue to decrease the interceptions but as a gun slinger he will always have more interceptions then ideal but interceptions are not an issue as long as you are winning ala Brett Favre!
higher completion percentage is all I'm looking for that should help put more yards up and less interceptions
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17 2016 draft players I think will be good

Given his progression so far, I see absolutely no reason why not.

Quote:My biggest #becausejaguars worry for 2016: Bortles tears his ACL. Jinxed it. Quote:My biggest #becausejaguars worry for 2016: Bortles tears his ACL. That'll set this team back, Gus Bradley may as well file for unemployment Good thing is BB doesnt appear to be like other twinkletoes QBs and seem to be durable enough to avoid those kinda injuries *knock on wood* We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:My biggest #becausejaguars worry for 2016: Bortles tears his ACL. Why would you even utter such horrible words? I officially vote this dude to be flogged. Someone find Jdub to make the ***post***.
Lead leaders in interceptions: Blake Bortles JAX 18 Peyton Manning DEN 17 Matt Ryan ATL 16 Ben Roethlisberger PIT 16 Ryan Fitzpatrick NYJ 15 Jameis Winston TB 15 Eli Manning NYG 14 Sam Bradford PHI 14 Matthew Stafford DET 13 Philip Rivers SD 13 Derek Carr OAK 13
lets stop acting like there was this big gap between him and everyone else when it comes to interceptions, He's not perfect but his will and desire is going to allow him to improve every year. By the way some of these people on here are multi year players and we expect a 2nd year player not to make mistakes which is not possible. ![]()
I would expect to see a better run game due, in part, to a (hopefully) improved defense. With an improved defense there shouldn't be quite as much pressure to have to score with the passing game. The net result would be fewer passing yards and TD's... but also fewer int's (hopefully). On the other hand, a better run game could really open up the passing game for big plays. Of course, this all hinges on an improved defence and an up-graded offensive line.
