I didn't realize all these great pass rushers were just sitting on their sofas just waiting for Dave Caldwell to call them.

Yup. And we keep "whiffing" on them. Because throwing JJ Watt money at a guy who had double digit sacks three years ago (which we were ready to do) isn't desperate as hell. And because anyone outside of N.Y. was talking about Robert Ayers when mentioning the top pass rushers in the league EVER. We're doomed!!!! Gimme a break. I like our D so much more than I did a week ago and I like our position still to get a pass rusher on our terms. These guys wanted so badly for Ayers or Vernon to be the answer here, they froze up when we landed neither.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Players taking a year off and coming back is only going to get more common as the years go on.

He injured it in October. Im not sure if he'd be ready by the start of the season but he'd be close.

This is true. An ACL is really a 9 month injury but we just say a year because they wouldnt return during that season. He could very well be ready by preseaon. Possibly late training camp.

Would probably benefit him going back to the Steelers, rather than coming back in game 3 or 4 with us without having played with our line at all and possibly playing next to a rookie.

9 months can be done but isn't the normal time.

Everything Ive ever read or seen has said 9 months. It just common practice to say a year because if it happens in october they wont return that season. Also 9 months is damn near a year. Now i will say ive also read it takes 2 years (again just average numbers) to regain full confidence but I wouldn't be suprised if that was really closer to 16 months.

It would seem this is becoming the norm due to modern medicine addvances but hey im no doctor lol.

I would have thought 9 months would be the absolute minimum recovery time needed from an ACL for an NFL players. I was thinking 10-11 months based on friends injury but then again I guess they arn't professional athletes.
