Drafting #5... Tunsil, Ramsey, Jack, Bosa are all gone......
|
So, in the event that we get to pick 5, and the picks so far are Tunsil, Bosa, Jack, Ramsey, and if we don't want Buckner, I can see a strong possibility that we could find a trading partner.
Part of the reason is this: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...tonmariota "Mayock said during a discussion with his fellow analysts that he considers the consensus top two QBs in this year's draft, Goff and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz, to be just as good and maybe even better than the top two QBs in last year's draft, Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston." On the other hand, why not just take Buckner? Mayock says he thinks Buckner is the best defensive player in the draft. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I still wouldn't be surprised if we take a OT, we took a Leo last year in the first, I don't think the Beachum signing moves away from this but maybe closer to it
A good loser is a good loser
We should draft Buckner even if Bosa is there.

To me (and I'm far from being an expert, so my opinion is probably wrong  ) , he is better than Bosa. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Where would Buckner play? Outside on running downs and moving inside in passing situations I would imagine. He can play multiple positions. He's viewed negatively due to past Oregon d-line busts but he's not a bad player. I don't think he's on the same level as Jack/Bosa/Ramsey but still a top 10 pick.
Inside on passing downs....they're going to invent a totally new defensive alignment where all 11 guys slide inside on passing downs. They'll talk about like the 3-4 and 46.
The defensive line does not need another big end who can slide inside on passing downs. It needs someone who can bend the edge.

1. Taking a QB at #5 and hoping to trade him for a "slew" of draft picks is insane, IMO.
2. If Bosa is available and we don't take him, JDub will head for the Modis. Start a poll on that. 3. Get the big guys when you can, Buckner 6'7", 295 with long arms and big hands.

All depends where the jaguars have players rated.
If Buckner is rated that high, take Buckner. If vh3 is rated that high, take vh3. Ideally it would be a prime situations for a trade down if a good one became available though.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I think if there's one position that can be overloaded with talent, it's D-line. Denver showed what a dominant D-line can accomplish (and no I'm not saying we are close to that).
Between injuries and rotation, it's never a bad thing to load up on quality. Games are still won in the trenches. With that said, if Caldwell believes Bosa is that guy or Buckner or Lawson, I'm okay with it. I have my guys that I want but I'm no NFL GM. We show less advertisements to registered users. Nothing wrong with 6-7, 295 but I'm with Uber, In Dave We Trust.

Holy cow, how right you are. Quote:Because Marks is guaranteed to come back 100%..... Why wouldn't Marks come 100% from an arm injury?

Quote:Why wouldn't Marks come 100% from an arm injury?Because sometimes players don't come back the same after injuries. Maybe he does come back 100% but that biceps (or triceps) injury can be really tricky. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Because sometimes players don't come back the same after injuries. Lol at "Frailbones" worrying about paper cuts. Well, drafting Buckner because Marks may not be 100% recovered from a torn arm tendon would be overkill. We're not talking about a neck injury, an Achilles, multiple concussions, etc. I've never heard of anyone's career ending over such a tear. Here's hoping Hurns recovers from his hernia. Maybe draft Treadwell just in case?

Also, this is worst case scenario we talking about. Jack Bosa or Ramsey are the options if one is available. If not, Bucker should be picked even though I'm not a huge fan. Quote:Because Marks is guaranteed to come back 100%.....Even without Marks 3T/5T is still our deepest and highest paid position. Malik, Odrick, Abry, Bennett... There's little chance that Buckner is going to be the highest graded player by an entire tier when we go on the clock. There will still be multiple people graded on the same tier, and we should take one of them instead. |
