It proved Edward Snowden point correct. He basically is saying they knew there were other ways, but that isn't what they were after.

Looks more like a PR move by Apple more than anything. Don't believe for a minute that the government couldn't crack an apple device without their permission.

A court has ordered Apple to assist the FBI decrypt an iPhone of a dead terrorist. Apple says "No", as it could compromise the privacy of its customers and sets a precedence for the government demanding backdoor access in future devices.

Who is in the right?

 

Our Judicial branch decides if the legislative laws are being correctly enforced by the executive branch, if you don't like the way things are going you vote for who you want to change it.  The law of the land has spoken & therefore Apple should help the FBI out, or appeal to the Supreme Court.

The real reason Apple doesn't want to comply, is they are simply giving up control to the Govt (it would go against everything Steve Jobs fought for).

I believe the FBI is technically violating a patent. Surely they should be responsible for following the laws they gleefully enforce.
