The state was never intended to prevent abuse. The best we can hope for is that the state does not become the ultimate abuser since it has a natural monopoly on force.

 

Yes, I can object to other restrictions of freedom.  This is why I'm not a pure libertarian.  I believe in laws that prevent immoral acts, racial discrimination being one of them.  You can't just always defer to your free market philosophy as the cure all.  It might work in theory, it doesn't in practice which is why the laws were needed in the first place.

Here's the difference, Trump voters will just go stay somewhere else.  Had this been "Democrats cant stay here", they would organize some kind of protest and likely get violent outside in front of the building.  Maybe they would press charges for violating civil rights.  They want to force you into submission, because they are totalitarians.

Sadly I believe you are right. The mindset of liberals and conservatives is definitely like night and day. I think people confuse their actual rights with what they perceive to be their rights. I have a right to freedom of speech but I cannot yell "FIRE!" in the middle of an establishment without getting into trouble, and for good reason.

Regarding the part in bold, you can't really lump a particular candidate's voters like that.

 

Actually, John Kasich had a very good response in a recent debate that was similar to this situation.  The question was something along the lines of a baker refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding.  His response was something to the affect "if they refuse to make a cake for you, don't protest and make trouble, just find another baker".

I have tons of police friends (former Navy Sailors, and people I went to high school with) but honestly I wouldn't be that upset if we did away with police all together.  I think too many laws, too many freedoms have slowly been taken away from Americans as the Federal Govt has continued to grow past what the people whom created the country had originally intended.

 

I agree that we all feel strong against people whom would hurt children, or commit murder, etc.  but do we really need local police to stop that?  We could simply go back to electing sheriffs whom make deputys to arrest the worst of the worst and do away with these vehicle police stops for speeding and stupid stuff.

I don't think the wild west way of life would work in modern times. However, ya obviously it's a two edged sword. More laws means more government oversight and it just keeps growing.

There's two different types of anti discrimination laws. One for public use and access I completley support, anything tax payer funded has to have 100% equal access for everyone. But private property there is no authority to force equal access nor should their be. All you edn up doing is selecting who's rights are more important that's a game we can never win.

Not to sound over simplistic, but humans gonna be humans.  Man has and will always act (or not act) due to fear and greed, whether real or perceived.  No amount of legislation will eliminate man's true nature, only manage its socially unacceptable results.
