Are you to the point where the draft is icing on the cake?

We still need strong drafts, to add depth or pressure on starters. Or in the LEO position, just need more people other than just 1 guy.

When you're holding the Lombardi Trophy and all your starters are returning, yes.  Until then, no.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Quote:Beachum if healthy can compete with Luke at LT, Gipson is the best FA signing regardless of Jackson's huge money deal yet both are needs that were met to everyone satisfaction (however is Jackson a leo, DT, or LE)?

CB Prince is great corner when healthy, Ivory is a ProBowl marshall type running back, the team is going to compete for the Playoffs this year.. no excuses on talent.....

You would have to think that Joey Bosa is the #5 pick or DeForester Buckner which ever is available at that time.
With just the FA class and a healthy Fowler we should have a winning season. Imo it all hinges on the imrovement of the defense. How often did we jump out to a lead just to watch it disappear or score a lot of points just to lose by three. If the draft class truly is icing on the cake then all our FA's must be fully recovered or perfect fits for our team.

Quote:With Dave killing it in FA the draft should fill the rest of our needs.

We may even have room for a luxury pick.

Thoughts?

Not sold. It's still grocercy shopping to me. At the end of the day, sure, all the items you picked-up looks great. The receipt wasn't too bad. You feel good about yourself on the way out the store because you just got paid and had the room to splurge a bit. You got yourself some NY Strip Steaks this time instead of that frozen box of burgers. But, the question is, can you cook? Do you know how to throw it all together and package it up into a nice meal? Or does it come out bland at the end of the day? That's where I am right now. Let's get through April first. Let's see what these players look like altogether in August when preseason arrives. Until then. I am 50/50.

Quote:Get me a LB (Jack) and an edge rusher (Spence/Ogbah) and the rest is just gravy to me.
Totally agree need Jack and even if we don't luck out on a pass rusher I believe Fowler and Malik will give us just enough to be serviceable this season. It is possible to get a stud in the later rounds as Dave is known for finding mid round talent.

The talent level on defense is average which is good enough to win a Super Bowl but must have an explosive offense.

If Laremy Tunsil falls to us at #5, we draft him, draft a Derrick Henry in the 2nd round, trade up back in the 2nd round to get the best OG available. Wow, the offense is gonna be so dominating with Bortles getting all the time in the world in the pocket, and huge running lanes for D.Henry to pulverize defenders.

I strongly disagree.

An old saying runs true today "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPINONSHIPS!" You take all Tom Brady's and Peyton Mannings and they look good in the regular season but come playoff time the  Defense wins the post season.
