Couldn't tell ya. But the SEC (but not just the SEC), fought it for the same reason Harbaugh wanted it. I can see both sides, and can't blame either.

I can see why the SEC wouldn't want the camps, for sure. Should the NCAA have catered to the SEC and banned all satellite camps? Meh, idk.

My coaching staff of 3 cannot coach all the 300+ campers by ourselves, we bring in coaches from other schools. The way the rule sounds that wouldn't be allowed if it was for other sports that didn't have the same amount ofcoaches.

Yeah...my son is not happy about this either. He had several camps lined up to work this summer and now might not get too.

There is no surprise the conferences voted the way they did. The conferences located in fertile recruiting grounds voted for the ban and the ones not in fertile recruiting grounds voted against it.

For sure. But it's also pretty well known that the SEC and ACC were the driving forces behind the ban.

 

 

I don't blame them, either. I wouldn't want teams like Michigan and Ohio St. doing what they can to offset the southern recruiting advantage. There's no surprise they are against it and no surprise the Big Ten schools are for it.

The moral of the story is: when the NCAA sees things out of bounds, they act appropriately.
