How feasible is it for a Floridian to find some mountains to camp in? Is that a thing at all?

 

It's feasible, in about a six hour drive from Jacksonville.

Sugarloaf Mountain is the fifth highest named point in the state of Florida. At 312 feet above sea level it is also the highest point on the geographic Florida Peninsula. The mountain is in Lake County, near the town of Clermont

 

However,

Cumberland Island is a beautiful place to primitive camp. Bring purifying tabs and be sure you can boil water. 

 

Wild horses, the beach, it's really a gem.

I thought it was one of the trash mountains. 

 

I saw the one in Baker County the other day, suckers lol. All of Duval's trash in a giant mountain in the woods.

 

Then there's the ones off 95 in south FL...

 

Only other place I can think of is the bridge in Tampa.

We Camp at least once a year, right now we stick to non-primative sites cause the kids are young but I used to do primative camping prekids days. I kinda like having at least a portable near by in my old age, don't judge.

My husband really wants to do primitive camping but absolutely must sleep with a CPAP machine so we have to go somewhere that has electricity at the site. Thankfully at least a porta john is usually close by. I did plenty of dumping in the woods in the Army and I'm not in my 20's anymore. We always find a place in the mountains here. One of the things I do love about NC.

He has looked into inverters and batteries. Not cheap for the- very sadly- little amount of camping we do. If we were going several times a year we think it would be worth the cost. We only get to go once a year.

 

I'm not sure about leaning against a tree. Hmmm..... knowing my luck it would be disastrous because that's just how it is with me. I can trip on a blade of grass I'm so clumsy. When my ex was deployed to Iraq he took one of those folding chairs you carry in a bag with him. He cut a hole in the seat so he would have a restful place to contemplate life in the middle of hell.  :thumbsup:
