How would you move forward if Tunsil in round 1?
|
Unfortunately, Chargers media is making it sound like Tunsil is not a fit for the team because they resigned their two tackles. Therefore Ramsey seems likely for their pick. Dallas doesn't seem to like Bosa so I would suspect they pick Jack. That leaves us with Tunsil, Bosa, and Buckner. Tunsil is by far the best prospect of those 3 and imo tackle is still enough of a need that it would be foolish to pass on Tunsil at that point because we have Luke Joeckel, Kelvin Beachum, and Jermey Parnell. Parnell is not a long term solution at tackle imo and bookending Tunsil with Beachum would give us a near elite tackle duo. I know people still have a bad taste in their mouth from Joeckel but it would be a mistake to let that influence the pick and Tunsil has a far greater nasty streak than Joeckel, which is what he's missing. So assuming Tunsil is the pick, what do you do about the defense?
It really sucks and does put us in a precarious position if Jack and Ramsey are gone at pick 5. Dave should really consider trading up to 3 but that's just me. "A man with no sauce is lost.

I would go after bosa, buckner, or VH3

I'd easily take Bosa and even Buckner before I'd draft Tunsil assuming they're available when we pick.
But your question is operating under the assumption we take Tunsil, so I guess I'll answer that. I'd carefully watch Lawson and Spence to see if they drop. If they're available in the mid 20s, I'd look to trade up for one of them in order to pair Fowler with another capable edge rusher. Perhaps a player like Deion Jones, Kyler Fackrell, or Kamalei Correa falls into the third. In my opinion we have to come away with at least two rookies who can play significant snaps on defense, especially in the front seven. Drafting Tunsil over Bosa or Buckner would inhibit that greatly in my opinion. Quote:Minds well go all outlol I feel you. I thought about that. Fanbase would be pissed though. It's obvious Joeckel's time here is wearing thin. Add to that Beachum basically signed a one year deal, so drafting a tackle doesn't seem so far fetched.

Ramsey
Bosa Jack Buckner Lawson Hargreaves Tunsil (in that order) Unless the Jaguars pull a Minnesota and forget whose turn it is, pretty sure at least three of those players will be on the board no matter what happens with the first four picks. Quote:I'd easily take Bosa and even Buckner before I'd draft Tunsil assuming they're available when we pick. Agreed on all fronts. Not the ideal scenario but I'd try to salvage myself with our 2nd and 3rd round picks and would even consider a trade up into the 20's.

Quote:Ramsey Not to worry, I'm pretty sure Caldwell has televisions set to ESPN. Every time they go to commercials, he checks to see if it's our turn. So there's no way we'll miss it.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Looks like more and more mocks have Jack, Ramsay and Bosa all gone by Jax pick. This is truly the worst case scenario for them. It is hard to believe that both Cleveland and Dallas pass on the 2nd q.b., but if this happens Caldwell needs to get on the phone. There has got to be some team in the top 15 that is willing to part with their 2nd rounder to move up for Tunsil or Goff/Tunsil. He should then take the BAP with the top 15 pick; could be Hargreaves, Floyd, Lawson or Dodd. If it's Hargreaves, he must then move back into the first and take a pass rusher. I would take the risk and grab Spence since he has the most upside. Hargreaves, Spence and then an OTTO in the 3rd (Jordan Jenkins or Perry from Ohio State). They can then take the best interior lineman in the 4th round to compete at guard since they seem set to move Linder to center.

We aren't good enough to not be taking BAP at 5. Doubt Tunsil gets past SD, but if he's there, I feel like we have to take him.

You guys act like Goff/Wentz aren't going 1 and 2.
We good. Bosa Jack or Ramsey Quote:Eventually you have to find LJs replacement. Now may be the chance.May I interest you in a gently used proven top 10 LT who can be locked in to a bargain 5 year contract given he hopefully overcomes what has largely become a routine rehab? Cause we have one of those.
I really can't believe the possibility exists for us to take a left tackle, albeit a great one, with our first pick. Of course. I mean..... Of course.
