Quote:The recent Super Bowl winning team tried to trade a 1st and a 2nd for Joe Thomas. The Browns wanted two 1sts.And they still won without him. And then they proceeded to sign an average LT in Free Agency. And then traded their "once elite LT" to the Jets! It looks like they learned from their almost costly mistake.

Completely logical. It's also weird that the Jets, who are always trying to "win now", are trading high picks for LTs... Quote:Since we're talking about "elite" LTs, how about elite WRs? What rounds were Julio Jones, AJ Green, ODB, Deandre Hopkins, and Amari Cooper, taken in?Lol WRs post debunked, better change subject. Where did all those teams end up? We might have the best WR Corp in the league, where did we go? 5 wins? I don't mind taking WRs high, or any position for that matter. My point was that you don't need an elite WR to be good. You really don't. Quote:Since we're talking about "elite" LTs, how about elite WRs? What rounds were Julio Jones, AJ Green, ODB, Deandre Hopkins, and Amari Cooper, taken in? Jordy, alshon, arob, hurns, Antonio brown, diggs, etc are either studs and top end options or well on their way. That was just off the top of my head. We show less advertisements to registered users. To make a different point, they traded him because he missed 30 of the last 48 games. That also explains the low picks. Quote:Jordy, alshon, arob, hurns, Antonio brown, diggs, etc are either studs and top end options or well on their way. That was just off the top of my head. I mean you could do that for every position. That doesn't make it the rule. We've tried the "WRs are a dime a dozen" crap. Do you remember Dennis Northcutt, JJ Stokes, Matthew Hatchette, Cortez Hankton, Charles Sharon, Troy Williamson, Jason Hill, Micah Ross, Troy Edwards, Jimmy Redmond, and Kevin Johnson? Well I do. And that's just off the top of my head.

Quote:Lol yes, the Broncos lost respect for the LT position in one playoff series. Completely logical. And you wonder why the Jets continue to lose..... LT is important but not nearly as important as having a line that is in sync. Quote:And you wonder why the Jets continue to lose.....If Ryan Clady can perform anywhere near the level he played before his injuries (again, 30-48 games missed) a 5th and a 7th is a hell of a deal. Not to mention the jets are loaded with talent, their scouting department is definitely not slacking. Other than that, I actually completely agree. The OLine depends on a lot more than one player obviously. My point is, LT is still the most important out of them all, and an elite one is highly valued and hard to find, as we can see from all of the money/ high draft picks invested in the position. And that's just off the top of my head.Thats the thing, we didn't do the dime a dozen crap. We spent the #9 pick on Reggie Williams and the 26th (?) on Matt Jones. That reach for WRs was a huge blow to our team, and they were routinely outplayed by lower paid/drafted WRs. The others you mentioned were just camp names or fill ins. Charles Sharon? Ancient [BLEEP] Troy Edwards? Kevin Johnson? The guy who never made the final roster? These weren't attempts to fill in the starting WR spot. Quote:Thats the thing, we didn't do the dime a dozen crap. Everyone I named made the 53 man roster. Go look at our roster from 2003-2008ish when everyone was subscribing to the WRs are a dime a dozen crap. Matt Jones was a reach in the first considering he never played WR in his entire career and Reggie Williams was a huge reach in 2004 by Shack and I absolutely hated the pick. Want to know another reach I hated in that draft? The Raiders taking LT Robert Gallery at #2 over some guy named Larry Fitzgerald.
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
It took us a decade plus just to find two competent starters to replace Jimmy and Keenan. If you still believe WRs are a dime a dozen then you're just lost bruh.

Just means that talent evaluators can be wrong. I mean Hurns was very talented in college. Was surprised when he went undradted. Quote:Everyone I named made the 53 man roster. Want to know another reach I hated in that draft? The Raiders taking LT Robert Gallery at #2 over some guy named Larry Fitzgerald. You found one of the biggest OLineman busts in history compared to one of the best WRs in the modern era. Good job, any pick would of been better than Gallery, and Fitz is the best player outside of maybe Big Ben in that whole draft. Talk about cherry picking. Lol did you also want Lee Evans over Vince Wilfork? Seriously, bruhz , how can we be a "dime a dozen" WR team with 2 1st rounders at the position? The rest of the real " dime a dozen " WRs completely out performed both, they weren't the ones that drug this team down. Also, with Gene Smith, everything was a dime a dozen. OLine, dline, secondary... Pretty much everything except QB and RB. Quote:Since we're talking about "elite" LTs, how about elite WRs? What rounds were Julio Jones, AJ Green, ODB, Deandre Hopkins, and Amari Cooper, taken in?And how fast each and every one of those teams GMs hangs up if the Cowboys offered Tyron Smith for them. I would literally have to go past my 20th WR before I would consider trading it straight up for the best young LT in the game right now.
I will say that the Chargers, a pretty solid team with a good QB that is only drafting that high because they lost 4 starting olineman and an extremely good Keenan Allen (one of the ~20 WRs that would be a hell no to trading for Tyron Smith coincidentally), could be one of the exceedingly rare examples where if they did draft Tunsil they could go from top 5 pick to playoff team very quickly.
They're obviously an anomaly though...and they would still be more scary with Ramsey and sticking with a just fine Dunlap at LT. We show less advertisements to registered users. And please... PLEASE.. tell me you just used an "extremley good " WR that was taken in round 3 as an example.

They were 2-6 when Allen got hurt
