Charles Davis Mock 5.0

Quote:Says the guy that wouldnt trade Doug Baldwin for the best young LT in the league.

And please... PLEASE.. tell me you just used an "extremley good " WR that was taken in round 3 as an example.
I really, really don't understand this fascination you have with draft position. Who the heck cares where they were drafted. I just showed you 5 extremely good LTs that were taken after the 1st, 2 of which were day 3 and 1 that was undrafted.

Anyway, in the very first post I made in here I said I didn't want to start this stupid debate on here yet again...and for some reason I spent too much of last night doing just that. We've all made our points ad nauseum, so if y'all want to keep debating it have fun but i'm out.

You dont understand how draft position relates to the argument of finding "extremely good" WRs in later rounds of the draft?

Keenan Allen was in the top 3 rated WRs coming out of college. Top 3 LTs dont go in the third round, which you can tell from the 7 LTs taken before Keenan Allen.

***edit*** also just noticed that SD took one of those non important tackles above Allen... in the first round. Again, clearly they have different opinons on LTs than you do.

So the Broncos signed 2 tackles this year and also took one in the 2nd round last year. So ya they know it's an important position,if we based it off the broncos should we just not have a good running back and a quarterback?

I think it's quite simple. Who would you rather have? The best LT in football or the best WR in football?

A good question would be this: who is more valuable to the Cowboys for example.. Tyron Smith or Dez Bryant?

I would go with Dez Bryant all day.

I bet Blake Bortles thinks the LT position is important. Thats whats important, trying to keep our franchise qb from getting blindsided and giving him more time in the pocket. Draft Bosa in the first and Kelly in the second. The 2 best players at the most needed positions and hope Beachum recovers. I think we can find good value at LB in the 3rd. LB in the 2nd I donr see better value than Kelly. Just hope Bosa is there

I bet if you ask Blake Bortles if he would rather have OT Jack Mewhort (the 59th pick in the 2014 draft) or WR Allen Robinson (the 61st pick in the 2014 NFL draft) he would pick the impact player all day. And so would you and anyone else with any common sense.

you can sit there and pick players all day, thats common sense. But but but, I bet he would rather Joe Thomas than Charles Rodgers. Dont see what any of that has to do with my post anyway. I guess you are trying to say LT isnt an important position. I like the idea of having the best player to protect my qb blindside and giving him more time in the pocket. I think Bosa is a better prospect than Tunsil anyway

This is actually a point that hasn't been brought up. There isn't nearly as much of a QB blindside in today's NFL with the shotgun being so prevalent. Not only does the play develop much faster, but the QB stays pretty much parallel to the LOS until right when he throws the ball or sometimes after the play breaks down. There is no slow developing 5-7 step dropback where the QB is getting crushed from behind at the back of it.

I seen a lot of plays last year with pressure from the jokes side where Blake took some hard hits. Also plays where he has eyes in the back of his head and is able to spin away, duck, prepare for the hit, or what ever before players were even able to develop. Most qbs in the league would of been on ir with some of the hits he took.

It's important. But I don't see the need to select one in the top 5. Neither would I take a TE, RB, SS, or OG/C top 5 either. Unless there's someone who has some suberb traits that you just can't pass up. Tunsil doesn't have those traits.

Luke/Beachum will be able to do the job this year. This team does not need to draft Tunsil. They just don't.

We do however need defensive playmakers.

Tunsil won't be there at 5 so we all good. Everyone welcome Jack/Bosa/Ramsey to the Jags!

Well, the Cowboys would go with Tyron Smith, seeing as they paid him $110 million dollars without blinking an eye, and played around with Dez until they agreed on $70 mil.

1) Rams- Wentz

2) Browns- Goff

3) Chargers- Ramsey

4) Cowboys- Jack

5) Jaguars- Tunsil

6) Ravens- Bosa

This mock draft is interesting because it raises the age-old question, need vs value.   Davis says the Jags take the best player in Tunsil.   And pass on Joey Bosa.

I'm not sure I would do that.

Lance Zeirlein does the same thing.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/mock-draft...ein/305665

He has it going Wentz, Jack, Ramsey, Goff, Tunsil to the Jags.

The Cowboys wont draft Myles Jack (injury too risky at 4 overall & neither will Jaguars) while I would like Tunsil pick they wont make it because they need to win now and not later...

Tunsil will struggle to play LT on week 1 and they have both Luke & Beachum while Tunsil has the potential to be better than both of them he has to learn the playbook & get adjusted to the NFL could take him half a year or more before he nails it.

They will draft Joey Bosa because who knows what the deal is with Fowler (will he be healthy & live up to the hype) if not they really have no one else to play LEO (skuta, Odrick) come on... they need a real huge edge rushing threat that they get with Bosa..

A very deep draft at DTs and I guess most of teams don't feel are so different from each other that would require teams to draft in the 1st... knowing that they'll be there in the 2nd?  Unless you mean LT and I think its on average of previous years..
