Front office source on Josh Norman from team w/ top 10 draft pick: “Intriguing but expensive. Not great that his own team let him go free."

Josina was the main person giving the updates on the Jags/Beachum pursuit, so she definitely has some contacts here. Wouldn't be surprising if it were us she is referencing at all.

She was in direct contact with Beachum during that time, she has a lot of contacts tho, so who knows who she talked to.

Also Dave already said he looks at the reason a guy becomes a FA and why his team wouldnt sign him, we know why the Panthers didnt sign him and its becouse he is too expensive for them. Dave does not have a problem signing guys if he's team lets him walk due to price, only if its due to being locker room cancer or in decline or trouble maker off field

If all Norman wants is money then he will be a Jaguar by tomorrow night.

Quote:No way could Dave offer Vernon 18 million per and then have the nerve to call Norman expensive. Maybe she's referencing another team.
He called Vernon expensive too. They are both expensive. It also didn't mean they weren't going to make a play for him either.

However when a player of Norman's talent is simply let free with zero compensation clearly there is something else there

This is what came to mind on this end.

Being that the Panthers pick near the end of Round 1, it's going to be that much more difficult for them to get a ready made quality starter at CB in the draft. Something isn't adding up.

Wouldn't you think that whoever does sign him will move on it quickly? I would think that you would want this done before the draft so you can draft accordingly.

8-9 teams have contacted Josh Norman's representatives since Panthers rescinded the tag, per league source.

Niners, with a ton of cap space, among teams that called about Josh Norman, per source. Others incl. Bucs, Steelers, Dolphins.

Id think the steelers should be all in on that if they have the money. Bens getting up there and theyre definitely ready to win a bowl right now with some improvements on defense

This is what I'm saying. The fans, including myself, are extremely excited about the potential of Josh Norman in a Jags jersey, but I just really think Dave isn't all for it like we are for some reason.

I think her insights about that deal were strictly coming from Beachum. She even mentioned talking/texting him in several of her updates.

I'm pretty indifferent. I will be very happy if we get him, but 3 hours ago I was (and so was everyone else) plenty happy with House/Prince/Colvin as our CB trio and there's really no reason not to feel the same.

There is no need for angst if we don't get a suddenly available guy that none of us expected to be available when we sat down to eat dinner just a few hours ago.

because the fans want to drop money on every big name that pops up on the market, but i dont think daves sitting there feeling pressured to do anything more to the secondary outside of the draft.

Yeah, true. I'm not too big on Amukamara so I'm all for Norman. Dude is a beast.

I guess. Norman is so good, though.

I see a Revis-esque deal by some team.

Revis... 5 years, $70m, $39m guaranteed. Guaranteed $16m and $17m in first 2 years of deal. $15m in year 3 with $6m guaranteed in case they cut him loose.
