MERGED - NORMAN-MANIA!

Definitely sounds like it will be SF, but we will see.

If we wasn't franchised when the market opened, he would have been the number one free agent out there.

I'm surprise there isn't rally's outside of the stadium pleading Dave to sign him.

This offseason was focused on improving the defense. We go get Jackson, Prince, and Gipson. Fowler and Marks come back. Sign Norman and our CB/FS combo is one of the best in the league.

Draft Bosa/Jack

Draft Pass rusher/linebacker

Draft G/C

4-7 BAP

The D has been rebuilt in one offseason. Norman can have that type of impact.

@JasonLaCanfora Josh Norman's camp is all about exceeding $14M/yr average. Still shooting for $15M. Don't seem as caught up in total guaranteed $

Cant see why we wouldn't do this.

Because he might not want to play here.

Why is this thread in the incomprehensibly generated "NFL Draft" forum again?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

That's my gut feeling. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Something Ms. BklynJag doesn't seem to understand.

Not just a cover 2 guy.

Not just a product of his pass rush.

Isn't our base D a cover 3 single high safety?

<p style="font-size:26px;">However when a player of Norman's talent is simply let free with zero compensation clearly there is something else there

Won't they get compensatory pick next year (I know it's just a 3rd rounder - based on a contract he'll most likely get - but better than nothing)? Or does rescinding franchise tag count the same as if he was cut?

I can totally understand Panther's decision after what happened to us with Kam Chancellor. We needed more than half of the season to again build our team chemistry after his holdout. Keeping Norman's situation unchanged (and after talking with Norman/his agent over the last weeks they knew how far away they were to reach a new deal; and he wasn't willing to sign tag) way into training camp or even start of the season would bring a lot of unrest and could ruin their team chemistry as well.

He very well might want nothing to do with Jax. However, no one knows for sure so there is no harm in Dave making him an offer that's best for the Jaguars. If Norman says no, ok we didn't lose anything. Norman says yes, we have ourselves a true #1 CB. To not even try would be illogical.

Yes we should try to get him.; But if we don't we're no worse off than we were this time yesterday.

Teams expressing most interest in former Panthers CB Josh Norman so far include SF, Washington, Pittsburgh, Miami. Others also making pitch.

Again, dont think our interest is much at all. That right behind the 9ers report reeks of the same money = interest narrative that connects us with everyone.

The GM said as much, his price tag was too much for them, they also believe their defense can function without him, they also have a lot of guys with contracts coming up, their GM believe in paying the big guys first

Quote:um, josh norman is the real deal... plays elite man coverage... the most coveted thing by a cornerback...

anyone who can cover in man coverage like he does, is not a product of anything except his own skills.  Get this guy, please

Ummmm.....we don't play a man coverage scheme. Josh spent very little time in a true man to man coverage D.
