Having depth at a particular position shouldn't preclude you from drafting that particular position. It could lead to you letting a great player slip through your fingers. I think Buckner could move around the line much like JJ Watt does. Buckner also has long arms and big hands. Bigger than JJ's. Tipped passes at the line are sometimes just as big of a play as sacks and TFL's are. He still needs to be able to get his hands up at the right moment, but he's definitely built to be disruptive along the line. I would have no problem with this pick if it happens.
Quote:WatchSame goes to you lol. Rankins is going to be very good, but if Buckner comes close to what Calais Campbell does, give me Buckner all day every day. What Campbell does for that defense in ARZ is tremendous.
Quote:Ok? One is a junior the other is a senior. They also didn't play the same exact position either. You don't judge a prospect by his college stats. You were the one that said they are comparable...I'm just pointing out that on the field Buckner production blows Jones out of the water. Buckner senior year: 17 TFL 10.5 Sacks 83 Tackles 5 Pass Defended Jones Career: 17.5 TFL 8.5 Sack 94 Tackles 10 Passes Defended Jones is also seen as a guy that lacks Motor/Effort. I didn't think much of Buckner originally, but now I'm starting to lean to either him or Jack for our pick at #5, especially if we get Norman. His physical size is tough to ignore.
Quote:You were the one that said they are comparable...I'm just pointing out that on the field Buckner production blows Jones out of the water. Comparable play styles. But Jones was mainly asked to play 3 tech and some nose. Buckner primarily played 5 tech. You're not going to rack up sacks and tackles rushing up the middle clogging lanes. Would Buckner have the same numbers playing Jones role and/or visa versa? There's a bit of projection you have to do and that's where film study comes into play.

Seems like a quality guy. Don't agree with drafting due to Odrick/Jackson but he seems like a really driven, humble personality.
I wouldn't Mind Buckner at 5. Him and Jackson can move around on dline. They both can play inside and out. Who wouldn't want
Michael bennet Seattle or Calais Cambell Arizona. Two guys he's been compared to. I'd prefer Jack or Ramsey though! Kuechly or Mathieu We show less advertisements to registered users. Dave has shown to be a needs-based drafter in the top rounds. Spending a top 5 pick on a position we are strong at contradicts everything he's done. Quote:There's a couple things wrong with that argument. Agreed. Regarding your last part Dave is on record saying that in the first couple of rounds he is strictly BAP at need. In the 3rd round and later that's when he begins exploring BAP.

We're officially 1 week out so at this point don't believe anything you hear. Remember 2014 when Manziel was a lock for the Jags the week leading up to the draft? I do.

I still think Jack is the guy we're targeting. Showing "interest" in Buckner could make both the Chargers and Cowboys think twice about trading back if he's the number 1 player on their boards.
